If I was Jackies' son and knew how wonderfully crafty she is I would have asked her to make me one also~ He is one smart sailor!

I think you may be right Julie! The only pictures I get from my sons are the ones their girlfriends take!

Jackie,
That will be a great page for you to scrap... nice that the CO took the time to send a letter!

Julie,
Great to see you back! Hope things are settling at your house!

I am hoping to get my Cricut out and make some cards this weekend! My stash is gone!

Congrats to Vicki and your Sailor! My tears started as soon as they opened the big door for the sailors to march into the hall... I hadn't even spotted my son yet. Of course I was snapping away with the camera! It was a miracle that so many pictures actually came out!

I agree with Sheila the weekend went by very quickly... we also hung out at the hotel after a quick trip to the mall the first night. We did not know he would be able to join us overnight. It never occured to me to bring him clothes. He quickly headed for the gate when they told him he could go. Did not want to give them the chance to change their minds.

So our trip through the mall was for underwear, sweats, tshirts and flip flops... hang out, comfy stuff for the hotel room. He was on the phone and the computer at the same time! Connecting with family that could not make the trip and friends that had already completed boot camp and were in A school.

The next couple days our sailor wanted to go into the city. So we played the days away as tourists wandering a bit, eating lots of great food, taking the river tour in a boat, watching the street artists juggling acts, visited the aquarium.

Whatever you do, take lots of pictures and enjoy every moment! Get and give lots of hugs! Congratulations to you both!

I bought a bunch of blank cards with envelopes (12 pk for $1.99)at Tuesday Morning... that is what finally inspired me to get out my Cricut and cut some things to dress the cards up!

That is the same house I live in! My sons friends know that our house was always a place to hang out! But it is some of those same guys that join the Navy to have a 'family' to belong to... so who is there to write to them??? Was an eye opener for me!

I told my son that when cards are for someone else there is an 'x' marked on my return address label... was a simple way to let him know at a glance that someone else had something to open!

We (Molly's adopt a sailor) are hoping to get names of sailors who don't receive mail someday. Until then this is the simplest way to get mail to those that need it!

It is the highlight of the day for the guys and gals to get mail. My son said they used to pass around letters after lights out so that everyone had something to read!

Hey Vicki... if you have the time... next time you write your son in boot camp... send an extra card with an 'x' behind your return address... tell your son it is a card for someone in his division that does not get mail. When my son was in boot camp he was the mailman... He was shocked that so many guys get one letter and some no mail the entire length of boot camp! Now you know why I send so many cards a week! There are still two of those guys that write me!

Oh my... I send about 20+ cards a week... an hour each! YIKES! I guess I could give up housework! Not that my house looks like I do it anyway... tehehehe
