Hi there! Not sure if I am posting in the right spot or not. I just wanted to say hello. My son is stationed in GP. I was just there visiting in March and then he came home before deployment.

Hi Navymom2006. Welcome to the Seabee Mom's page. My son is currently in A school and has a couple of month's to go. How long was it after A school that your son was deployed?

Ebigirl

Hi! My son finished A School and headed over to Sicily for a 3 yr, 1 month tour. While he was there, he pulled a tour to Afghanistan. He just arrived there for his second tour. He will be near the end of his enlistment when he gets back.

Natalie,

WOW! Your son has been in for a long time. I'm still at the beginning of this unknown journey. At least bootcamp is out of the way! I can only hope my son is deployed to a "safe" place, but those are few and far between anymore. :(

He's in A school on the west coast for the summer...must be tough!

Ebigirl:  By west coast did you mean Port Hueneme?  If so my son just arrived there two weeks ago Saturday.  He is waiting to class-up.  Is your son still at A school?

Terry'saproudmom: Yes, my son's A school is at PH. Our boys must have the same rate of CM. I honestly don't know if mine is still there. He has not been in contact with me, his choice. The last time I did hear from him he said he "loved his job", so that's promising.

Do you happen to know how long A school is at PH? I'm very much in the dark not having any communication with my son.

FYI: My son's recruiter told us that PH is a 15 minute walk to Malibu...must be tough!!  :)

LOL, no Port Hueneme is not 15 minutes from Malibu...your recruiter must not be from California. Maybe as the crow flies.  I live 55 miles from Port Hueneme and I'm looking forward to my son Phasing up so that we can go get him...even a one day liberty allows me to go get him.  He's dying for a day at home...will mean four hours of driving back and forth but still do-able.  From what I understand CM school is 12 weeks...once they start classes of course.  Port Hueneme is on the coast but my son said he hasn't seen the beach yet.  He told me that they do Friday PT at the beach...get up at 3am to do it.  Roll tires (the big truck tires) run two miles to the Pier and then do regular PT there and run back.  Sounds really tough to me.  He didn't have to do it last week (his first Friday there) because of a special fund raiser.  He did get to go to the Xgames last Saturday (only $25) with a group of Navy and AirForce from the base.  My son is a reserve so we think he will do his weekends at Port Hueneme or Point Magu also.  Is your son also a reserve?

Yes, my son is also a reserve. I understand that they do Friday PT with the Marines...at least that's what my son told us before he left for PH. Your very lucky that you live so close. We are from Washington State.

My son should be done with A school next week if it's 12 weeks long. Thanks for letting me know how long it runs. Then he will be home and reporting to his "home" base.
