OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Housing Information related to Bangor Naval Base

Who is on First?  What's on Second?


The Kitsap Peninsula in Washington State is a long strip of land
between salt water Hood Canal to the South/West ( more of a very long, very narrow ocean sound )  and the Puget Sound to the North/East - Puget Sound is an emense body of salt water

The Kitsap Peninsula is scores of miles long
and  miles wide ( 10 miles average width - maybe ) with rugged high ground in the middle.

Kitsap Naval Base is just a geographic area  that contains other naval bases
the geographic area is the Kitsap Peninsula  ( Peninsula has civilian towns and private lands also )

is just another name for the Naval bases and Navy facilities located on the Kitsap Peninsula

Section:  Deployment/Temporary Absence


In order to retain eligibility for BH ( Barracks ),
you may not be absent from quarters more
than 90 consecutive days. Personnel deploying for a period in excess of 90
days (except two-crew submarine personnel and Homeport Ashore Program
members) must vacate rooms. This requirement may be waived if adequate
inventory exists to meet installations Homeport Ashore needs.

Section:  Termination of Bachelor ( Barracks ) Housing Assignment:

Bullet Item  3:

 •   Authorization to Draw Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH):
Personnel residing in BH ( Barracks ) who desire to draw BAH must vacate
within 15 days of receipt of authorization


Bullet Item 4:
•    Voluntary Vacate to Live Off  Base:


 E1-E4 personnel who desire to live off base must submit a BAH request
in writing to the BH Office,  via their chain of command. Personnel requesting to move off
base must state that they fully understand they are not automatically
authorized BAH by moving out of BH ( Barracks ) and they may be placed
on a waiting list for authority to live off base if their request is
not approved at the time of moving. We strongly recommend
residents check with the BH  Office for BAH approval prior to
moving out of quarters. Final BAH  authorization will require that
member has properly checked out of their BH ( Barracks ) room.
