Hi, Ladies!  I'm new to this group, as well as to the website.  My son left on 12/14, and I finally got a call from him on 1/13.  I've gotten about 8 letters so far, and they went the whole gamut of feelings: excited, upset, homesick, ticked-off, and now they're back to excited.  I just got a letter today telling me next week is what they call 'hell week', so if you get any letters that are 'down', you'll know why! We're driving up to graduation from NC, so I'm NOT looking forward to that drive; about 14 hours!  Everyone keep your fingers crossed for CLEAR weather!

Hi, I just added a discussion above for us to list our plans for graduation. That way it'll all be in one place when we're trying to remember!  My son said in his letter, "I'm not sure what PIR is. .assuming graduation."  Here I'm trying to use Navy-speak in my letters, and they call it graduation. LOL

Darnell I can't believe how cold it is there now!  Wise keeping your young one home,

-16 and waiting at a bus stop is unthinkable to me, how old is he?  Why didn't they cancell school?   I saw -40's for Minn. on the weather channel today, is that you?   I had to buy a coat this week because they were taking them up and putting swimsuits out... Good thing, they were 1/2 off!  Same with the boots...

What color should we monogram the scarves in...Navy?  Or does it matter just do the 913?  What do you think?

Thank you for your encouraging words for us, WhiteClay.   I lost my focus with his last letter.  Mine has been going to Chapel and I hope he makes it tomorrow.   And for me, pray, pray, and pray...  and a very selfish, don't tell him he can play bass drum then take it away...

Ok girls, we need to remember that the letters we get are at least 4 days old, so our recruits have probably forgotten the stuff they were upset about when they wrote. Also, tomorrow is Sunday which is holiday routine and a 6 hour break!  Pray they go to to chapel to have their hearts encouraged and to remember where their strength comes from! Don't let your heart be discouraged...this is a time for us to stretch our faith too!  Hang in there!

Well, I got a letter today and mine is really down in the dumps.  He has night watch and is worn out and little on patience right now.  He also may not get to play bass drum...really bummed...says they have too many and it may be symbols or flag.  Had his heart set on the drum!  Good news is, he has Monday off, and Stay until Tues or Wed.  Problem is we can't stay.  UHG  Really homesick.  We all got separate letters, me, his dad and sister and all to the same house!  Also did it last week, I like that!  Heart broken now about his mood.  Tomorrow is another day, right?  I think weapons started today, he will like that.

Good Morning Ladies,

The weather is a pain in the butt I know. I live in Minnesota and the temp this morning was -16. I kept my son from school today didnt want him waiting for the school bus in the cold. I wish we were coming down you girls way for graduation. Right now there is no where to buy shorts here in Minnesota. Do they sell winter gear in Florida????

I think that getting thier div. on the scarfs is great, if you dont mind I may try and get it done. Bailey would love it. She would think its cool.

Maria I know how you feel about his birthday. We had a little party for Bailey at home. Had cake and sang happy birthday. Silly Lol. Bailey told me that her Div. sang happy birthday to her while she did 19 jumping jacks. She thought it was great.

well girls I'll check in later I hope everyone has a great day.

Darnell
