No need to do a POA.  That's really only need if being deployed.  Unless you plan to take care of all his affairs bills etc while in the Navy.

I am from Northford. Thanks so much for the help. Is there anything you suggest we do before he leaves? I read some have signed a power of atty, in case he gets hurt. Did anyone else do that? It sounds you all have a great group here.

Hi Chris,

There are tons of places to stay.  Once graduation gets close you'll receive a packet will a lot of info in it.  Best thing you can do is write, write, write.  Send funny cards and comics. You won't talk to your son for maybe 4weeks. But letters will start coming the 2nd week or so. My son's starting his 3rd yr and his brother leaves for BC on May 3rd. Most of us here have kids that have been in for several years but there are some "newer" ones also.  Ask away I'm sure one or more of us will have an answer.

Hi Everyone, My name is Chris and my son Matt will be leaving for boot camp on Feb 1. I just wanted to say hi and glad i found other mom's in CT. I feel a little better that others are so close that if i have questions you all could help. My first one will be any suggestions on where to stay in Great Lakes?? Any other tips?

Ok so the Enterprise has been in the news.  I'll give you one guess what ship the son will be on.  I wonder if all the..goings on...will delay the deployment. If so the son will be a little ticked.

Trains--Shoreline East runs out of New London to New Haven where he could pick up Metro North into Grand Central in NYC.Buses do run to the airport about every 1/2 hr.I can't remember which corner it's on, he would have to ask at the information booth.

Might be a little more expensive but next time for airports he could use either Bradley in Hartford, Tweed in New Haven, or TF Green in Providence. All 3 are about an hour away from the base and you don't have to deal with NYC.

It was so nice to meet you Therese and Helen.  Glad you had a safe trip home.  Thanks for making the long trip and hope to see you both again.

Donna, it was a fun time as always thanks for hosting this years holiday event. Great seeing all the "old gang" it's been way to long.

Oh my, what a reality check day! Domeneca and I just got back from the recruiters. Her father needs to sign the papers on Friday. She's soaring so high right now. I'm so proud of her but the tears are still falling hard! Don't have a date for MEP's yet. I'm so happy this group is here!

3 weeks is a short time to plan a wedding! If there's anything you can think of for us to help, just holler!
