Has anyone heard from their recruit on 04/2341?
Will they get the big Thanksgiving meal that the rest of those at Great Lakes do?
Mine (Justin- Nuke with stress fracture, now on crutches in PT for 2-3 more weeks) was to get to leave and go off base for a few hours tomorrow (with his original division and have dinner hosted by local church or VFW)...
Last we heard that was changed to a 2 hour outing TODAY (to Subway)...better than being stuck on the base but,,,we were to get a call when he was out, but still haven't heard anything...
Just hoping for the best for him (and all on ship 4)...I know it's got to be tough...not only missing their families back home, but also their new family (original division)!
Please post any updates if anyone hears from their recruit...Thanks!!!
Mark... We received a phone call about 7:00. 2341 was at a recreation center and having dinner. He said they had pool tables and other types of games and were able to stay about two hours. He also said they were having a big dinner tomorrow and were getting holiday hours. They have from 7:00-13:00 free. He was in good spirits. The recruits who are in RCU for medical reasons don't get to participate in the Adopt-a-Sailor because of their injuries according to our SR.
Ours was able to come off his crutches a little over a week ago. He has been able to finish all his training except two sessions of his fire training and his run. He was upgraded to Phase 3 a little over a week ago. He is hoping to be finished so he can do battle stations with the last division who is scheduled to PIR on the 16th. His fibula was completely fractured (as they put it) so we are a little concerned about the run. He will do that in Phase 4. Right now they have him doing fast walks around the track to build him back up to speed.
A very happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. We will keep your SR and all the recruits in our prayers.
Also, have you visited the Comment Wall on the Div 2341 site? If you have a chance, visit there. There are other parents there as well.
