Hey all!
My son shipped to boot on the 22nd of January and that night we received the quick arrival message. As expected, all went quiet until we received his box and letter on the 25th. Then quiet again until I noticed Tuesday morning I had a voice message from him on the 29th saying he was injured, he will provide a new PIR date, he is OK and will be fine. That was about it. Unfortunately we live in a somewhat rural area and while driving home I hit dead areas which happened to be when he called. We had sent letters to his division address previously and thanks to this site found the RCU address to send letters until he is assigned a new division. Just hard as a parent not knowing what happened, how he is injured and how long he will be laid up. My coworker's son had an infection from the injections and was at RCU for 3 days, hoping it is something equally simple! For now, this will be the page I watch most until I know otherwise! Glad you are there.

My grandson is in P week, called last week to say he is being setback for medical reason. Today we got a letter saying there is an issue with his heart, electricity to his heart. Thats all he knows. sending him to cardiologist on the 3rd, few days ago. He has no previous heart issues. Now we just wait.
So sorry to hear about your grandson Sharon s. Please keep us updated on what you find out. This is a lonely road in RCU. My son has been there since December, so please reach out if you have any questions.
He was cleared by cardiologist, PIR scheduled for May 25th. Praying all goes well till then
thanks
sharon
Great news! We are hoping for a PIR anywhere from May 11-25th!
Prayer for finances that my husband ( grandpa) will be there on 25th. Memorial Day weekend and everything more expensive.
Hi Mangieo,
My grand daughter is there now. She arrived Jan 22 also. She was due to PIR Mar30 due to illness and not passing the final PFA. Well, she finally passed, but she did it with two stress fractures that cracked into one. Now she is trying to decide if she wants to stay in RCU hell (her words, not mine) or come home and heal. If she stays and heals, she has to sit for 3 months! Then she can go to Battle Stations. If she comes home to heal, she has to make the decision to go back and start from the beginning. Good luck to your son.
Amma, I'm sorry to hear about your grand daughter. I'm starting to see stress fractures are more common than we thought, at least in boot camp. My son fractured his ankle in December and still is in RCU. He was devastated and talked about coming home because he didn't want to stay there. Now, he knows the best thing he could have done was stay there and heal. He has gotten the best care and they have gotten him back on the road to finishing. He has been in rehab since February. Just be strong for her.
