1 week from now and I leave too! I can not wait, yet i am nervous at the same time to see how much he changed. Thank you ladies for being so nice and welcoming on here. I look forward to meeting you all! It is kind of weird that we have to color burgundy. My bf's mom bought me a burgundy scarf for Christmas this year! :) Happy Week countdown everyone!

CCity - sorry to hear you have to re-do the id.  yes they will accept a military id.

Arkansasmom-  my husband is gaining weight too from being feed so well. It actually is really hard for him to gain weight and hes pretty small, so its a really good thing. How weird! I'm leaving from a week today too! How exciting. I have had no luck finding a red scarf.

Ochaos- I thought I had it all taken care of because I went and got my military id today. Then when I got home I realized that it has my maiden name on it. The lady must have been looking at the wrong name. My fault from not looking at it before I left. So I have to go another hour and half drive to get it fixed before I leave. I'm sure they will accept a military id. And I will bring my old id and the paper work too just incase. It just expired on the 11th.

Yes, they should accept it as long as you have the paperwork showing you renewed it.  Did you renew it online?  How long ago did it expire? Take the expired one with you along with the paperwork for the renewal to show it was renewed and you should be okay.

I will be leaving one week from today too, I am so excited.  Got two letters today!! No really good information to share just mentioned what all he had eaten and that he has gained some weight (which he is always trying to gain weight) I was very surprised at all of the food he mentioned he ate in one meal.  Had no idea they would offer such a wide variety at one meal.  Hope everyone else gets their letters too.

CCity- ask this on the FB page so you can get a direct answer from them to be sure the info you get is correct.
I would hate to guess.

okay I have a very important question. My id just expired and I renewed it a month and a half ago to get my new one. I have the paper work saying I renewed it and my old id still. The newspaper said California Id's are backed up because of a new system. I am so afraid I wont get my new one before going and they wont let me on base. Will they accept my id with my papers saying that I renewed it?

PIR LAST MINUTE TIPS:
Make sure everyone has ID's (birth certs for kids without ID's)
Bring at least 2 copies of the gate/parking pass - whether you plan on taking a shuttle to PIR or not, you'll need it to return your sailor back to base in the evening.
Binoculars - trust me on this!
Tide Stick Pen and a lint brush
Tissue - self explainatory!
Camera - and charger (or film)
Cell phone - and charger
Umbrella-just in case
GPS, reservation numbers, maps you may have printed
Husband, kids, etc (easy to forget those!)
An open mind to how your weekend will transpire - remember, they will be tired, they will be hungry and they just want hugs!
Bring your Sailors cell, laptop, ipod and all chargers to usein the room to catch up and if they are G&G you can give pass them on.
A comfy pair of clothes for your sailor to relax in while in your motel room
A sweater or jacket - it gets cold in the PIR hall
Whatever cool ribbon or name tag you may have made for your Meet & Greet
If you have room in your bag…a towel for your Sailor to sit on if you do go out and sightsee.

Best advice: Have fun and whatever you do, do NOT bring your sailor back to the base late. No one will forgive you for a long, long time! (If someone is late, they lose liberty the next day - and their whole division loses a couple of hours!!! NOT COOL)

CCity - once he is in Pensacola then he can find out about leave, depending on what he is training for he may be on hold for awhile. If you go to the group for the job he will have they may be able to answer the question better for you as they have been in your shoes.
