@pinkaboo - Hey pink, I know you're nervous about travelling alone. How about I give you my cell # privately? I'll have my car and will be travelling with my husband and 16-year old son. At least you will have someone to call if you run into any snags!

@Mossgirl - I'm glad you heard from your son and that all seems to be going well. Although I haven't received a letter in a couple of weeks, I love hearing from you guys when you get letters. It gives me a better
insight as to what's going on.Boy, they must really miss eating candy.
My son asked for Twizzlers.

It's Christmas eve and it just doesn't feel the same. I haven't put up any decorations other than two candles I found in the pantry. I finally ran out and bought gifts
for my grandsons yesterday. I just wasn't in the shopping mood this
years. I've been so looking forward to graduation that I really want
Christmas to be over so it can hurry up and get here.

Looks like I'll be travelling alone. My husband won't be able to go, my son's dad said he won't be able to make it, and I don't want my daughter to
come because she has a toddler and I figured it would be too cold and
the airport is no place to be stuck with a baby should the weather be
bad. It should be quite an experience as I don't drive or get out of the
house much. I'm very nervous about it, but hook or crook, I'm going to
go see my baby.

Hello! I've been out of the loop for a while! Hope you all are well! I am also stayng at the Ramada. When I called they said the shuttle left at 6:30 and to be downstairs by 6. I would ask again at check-in to make sure, though.

Received a very good letter today from my son - also very positive and upbeat! He says bootcamp is definately looking up. They are doing the weapons training, and practicing for Battle Stations on a simulated ship. He learned the actual ship they will use for Battle Stations is a simulated vessel build by Disney - it rocks back and forth and has all the lights and sound. Very cool! Lots of testing, second physical test went well but he's woried about the 3rd and final physical. He asked us to please bring Sprite and Mike-n-Ikes, along with his iPod and cell phone. Seemed to spend more time describing which cords and chargers he needed than anything! :) He is also worried about graduation being cancelled if the weather is bad - I wonder if they are telling them that?

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and my heart is hurting, as I know so many are who have loved ones far away. I always loved the music of this season but this year just can't bring myself to turn it on for fear of breaking down. I am praying for all our recruits and for all our men and women serving this wonderful country! I wish you all a very Merry Christmas! Peace on Earth!

Surfermom,  so glad that things are going well for your son.  I have not heard from my in two weeks.  I have been running to the mailbox every day after work hoping for a letter.  Trying to stay positive that no news is good news.

I wonder where some folks are finding information on wat training their SRs are doing for that day and week?

@surfermom - The line forms at 6:30 and gate opens at 7:00.

Here's the Family Guide from the RTC website. This is some handy information for all of us.

@surfermom - I hear they start lining up at 6:30. I forget what time they actually open the doors, but I don't think it's until after 7:30. I'm going to double check that.

Hi Ladies, I've been M.I.A., but I've enjoyed catching up on all of the posts.

calebsmom - Wishing you a speedy recovery. You'll be okay for PIR, right?

j'smom -  I so envy you right now, but am very happy that you'll get to see your son. Is this through the adopt-a-sailor? I never got the forms. Take pictures for us.

surfermom and Mossgirl - I'm definitely wearing jeans. Heck, I even thought about wearing my pretty, pink flannel pajamas when I saw that temps were dropping below 0. I was on YouTube looking at some of the PIR's and it doesn't appear as though people really dress up. I would love to dress up for my son, but it's been in the 20's here where I am and I can tell you, this cold weather ain't no joke. Have mercy on us if we have to stand in line for an hour or longer. I'm opting for warmth opposed to being dressed up.

Curious to know, who's staying at the Ramada for PIR weekend?

Calebsmom, I am glad to hear that everything went well with your  surgery and I hope you have a speedy recovery.

J'smom, I agree with Calebsmom.  I am not able to go for Christmas either.  Please give all the boys lots of hugs from all of us that cannot go and that we are all very proud of them and to keep up the good work.
