Pinkaboo, thanks so much! I just ordered mine! I also just found out my father-in-law has put his out for our SR too. How cool!

Hello! Airtran runs out of Raleigh - they have round trip flights for $198 (coach). Probably not refundable, though. Here's a link: http://tickets.airtran.com/Select.aspx

Thank you so much for the info.  I wasn't sure of where to begin looking so your info will help a lot.  I had only looked at Southwest Airlines flying out of Raleigh to the other Chicago airport. I'll check into flights later this week if it saves money.  On a teacher's salary every penny counts.  Thanks again.

I'm just about ready to start making reservations for a plane ticket and a hotel so that I can attend the PIR in January.  I was holding out as long as I could to make sure that the date didn't change, and hopefully it will stay the same and there won't be any delays.  Does anyone have any advice on which airline has the best fares and which airport to fly into?  I didn't realize that Chicago had more than one airport.  Also, I'm trying to find the name of the best and most affordable hotel to stay in for that weekend as well.  Thanks for any information that you can give me.

What flag is eveyone talking about? And does anyone know where to get a Navy Mom sweatshirt?

@surfermom - Great idea! I'm going to start including blank paper with each letter. Someone there must have a spiral notebook because that's what he's been writing his letters on. I even thought of maybe sticking one twizzler in the envelope hoping that it may be mistaken for a pen, but after thinking about it for a minute...naaa, I better not do that.

Greetings Nixonspeech. Welcome to our group. Are you coming to graduation with your sister in January?

@Barb - I'm wondering if we can send them paper and pens. I hear the RDC are tough on them when they get packages. I'm going to have to break my son's heart when I write him tonight to let him know that I won't be able to send him any chapstick or twizzlers...lol. I'll make sure I take some with me when I go up for graduation.

I can't wait to get my flag!!

I received a letter from my son. He said things are much better than they were before, but it still sucks being away from home. He also wanted me to ask my Navy Mom friends what their sons names were. Then he says, "I'll bet they're from Texas. Most of the people are from Texas or Oklahoma."

He also told me not to post any pictures of him on Facebook that I know he wouldn't like, but, he says, "I do like the one of me flexing when we were at MEPS so you can put that one up."

Before closing he says, "I almost forgot, can you send me some chapstick and Twizzlers?"

If you care to share your sons name with me, inbox so I can let him know who my "Navy Mom" friends are when I write to him this evening.

Here's the "safe to post on Facebook" picture from MEPS of him "flexing".
