My son is still in Great Lakes. He will be there until May and after that we don't know. I don't talk to him as much as I'd like because he is always studing, but just knowing that I can talk to him if I want to is a comfort.

Hi ladies. Hope all is well. My son is still in Chicago at A school as well but he will be there until May. Still no word on where he will be going next but so far we are pretty sure he will be going to C shool some where in the states. We miss him tons but is so much easier now that we get to talk to him. He is doing great and enjoying his Hospital Corpsman classes.

Hey Everyone,

My stepson is in Penesacola, FL and he is talking about going to Italy. He graduates A School on March 18th and if he gets orders to Italy he will get a 30 day liberty before he goes. Hope everyone is doing well and talk to you soon.

I know what everyone means.  Mine is still in Great Lakes and has no idea where he is going after that or when.  It seems to keep changing.

Oh I know what you mean! Mine is in California right now - clear across the country! He is telling me he may go to Guam and I'm thinking "how much is the airfare to Guam and can I take another Thanksgiving and Christmas without my boy?" Lol!

@ZachsinNavy!mom - I agree it would be a great opportunity, but I just can't imagine my son being so far away. I know the time is coming and that it's part of the job, but the thought just saddens me. For some reason, I still look at him as my baby although I know he's a man now.

My son is in A School in Chicago. He told me he has a good chance to be assigned to Japan after he finishes in April. I think that would be a wonderful opportunity. He does not like the cold. The  snow is starting to melt, though.

Greetings Ladies -  I hope everyone is doing well. I just wanted to give a couple of updates.

1. My son's bunkmate just got orders to ship to Japan for three years, so I won't have and address for him for a while, so for now I'll just have to keep in touch via Facebook. As soon as I get an address, I'll let you know. He does look well and seems to be very happy.

2. If you ordered the Keel book, you'll probably be getting it very soon. I got mine today. For those that didn't order it, I can scan in some of the photos and post them for you here. There are several group shots. Also, I can scan in the division photo and send a copy if anyone wants one.

3. My son is still on hold. Yesterday he was told that the waiver was approved and he would get new orders this week. However, today he was called into medical and was told the results of the test were normal on one part and off the Richter scale on another part. The second results were so far out of the normal range they think it must have been a typo, so they want to do another 24 hour urinalysis starting tomorrow just to be sure. It will be at least another week or two before those results come back in. In the meantime, he's still keeping busy working graduations, keeping watch, and escorting new recruits.

Other than that, he said they look forward to 30 degree days, which they don't get very often. It's still quite cold and windy up there, mostly in the single digits.

Well, that's about it. Does anyone else have any updates to share?

@pink He looks great. I feel sorry for those families that couldn't make it. It was awesome getting to see them graduate. Hope he gets out of there soon. My son is in Penesacola, FL about 5 hours away from us and he's loving the 70 degree weather we are having. Were in shorts. Best of luck to your sailor and hope we meet again someday.

Greetings Ladies - Just wanted to give a quick update on my son. He's still on hold, but the medical waiver has been approved pending a 24 hour urine analysis. He should be starting that today. He was supposed to start yesterday, but he had graduation duty. Can you believe they still had graduation with all of that snow? He said there weren't many people there at all. I'm guessing the airports in the area were shut down. I feel bad for the families that had flights canceled and weren't able to make it.

Here's a picture he sent me of him in the snow. The snow is almost up to the door.
