Ok, I am so confused about where to post comments and where to get info. So is this wall different from the other ship 07 div 047 wall I have been posting comments on? I just don't want to miss any info on our boys and love sharing my sons letters with all of you. I have received two letters as friday the 3rd. My sons spirits are high, they are very tired but he says they are growing together as a division very well. No phone call yet though, fingers crossed!

@surfermom - Yep...I read on here somewhere that they would have to open in front of their RDC's and if it's food, the RDC will eat it in front of them. It's also suggested that you do not write mushy stuff or draw cutesy hearts, happy faces, etc. on the outside of the envelope. They could be taunted and teased for it.

Oh gosh...I would think they would be getting letters by now. I hope they don't think we've forgotten about them or don't care. It's bad enough that they're away from home and I'm quite sure this whole experience is a lot different than what they actually thought it would be like.

Has anyone gotten a call yet? I'm afraid to leave the house in case I miss his call. I don't know if he'll call me on my cell or not. When I got the "Mom, I'm here" call, he called on the house phone. In a letter, I told him to call my cell, but it doesn't seem like they've been getting their mail.

Mail your Christmas cards early. I sent mine off today.

I've also been writing every day since getting my son's address. The 2nd letter we got from him just 2 days ago was very depressing, and he said he had not received anything. Breaks my heart to think of this - I KNOW his spirits would improve with news from home!

This is my first time writing on this wall. I am excited this website is available for us to communicate with one another. I miss my son so much, and cannot wait to hear his voice. I have recieved two letters from him, but he has not received any of mine that I sent. He says everyone in his group has gotten a letter except him. I have been mailing a letter every day since I got his address. I pray he has gotten one by now, he's getting homesick and needs a letter bad!

I just talked to my mailman - he was 10 years Navy! He said they don't count the processing days (P-days) when counting weeks, so they are really still in week 2. My 3-week phone call may not come for days yet!!! Oh no!!!!!

I'm also sending cards to the bunkmate!
Today is the 3-week mark for us. The cell phone is coming out of my pocket and will be in my hand for the rest of the week! lol!

I picked up a card and for my son's bunk mate today and plan to have it mailed tomorrow. I hear the mail takes a while to reach them, so I want to make sure he has it before Christmas.

I asked about the adopt-a-sailor- on the Great Lakes Facebook page and they said the recruits will mail home a permission slip if they wish to participate. When I wrote my son, I suggested that he sign up for it and send the slip home.

I know - Monday will be the 3-week mark for us and I'm on pins and needles for the phone call! I'm so afraid I will miss it! I even had him practice using the phone card before he left home (funny... kids who grew up with cell phones are clueless about dialing "1" before the area code to denote a long distance call!!!).

I read some info on the PIR group about the adopt a sailor program. I don't remember the details, but I think I remember seeing they have to sign up in advance. Not sure. I'll go back and look.
