Thanks emlovee...It was a hard thing to do but I felt it was the best thing for my SR.  They are going through so much emotionally they don't need added stress about things they can't control.  I'm sorry to hear your SR's family is not being supportive at this time.  Hopefully they will patch things up soon.  Are any of them going to PIR?

I am doing fine.....Can't wait to hug my SR.  Thanks so much for your kind words.

KDB1 i am so sorry for your loss :( but i do want to say you are an amazing parent for keeping this from him! i know that when i got the phonecall last week my fiance had just got off the phone with his family and they all upset him, his grandma told him she was dying, his brother told him he abandoned him, and his dad was ignoring him. i later foundout that his grandma is fine she is just slower since its winter, but his brother upset him the most, their mother died when my fiance was 6 and his brother was 3 months old and their dad is a truck driver so he is never home, nick has always felt responsible for his brother and to hear him say he feels like his big brother abandoned him i know its effecting my fiance big time!

so to hear that you kept something thats hurting you a secret from your SR until after he accomplished bootcamp really warms my heart! i cant immagine the stress they go through from just bootcamp but to add stress from back home just isnt necisarry.

i really hope that your doing ok. you will get to hug your SR soon enough (:

Thanks William...those words are perfect!

I am a little bummed about the change but mostly because he will be a little further from home!  Oh well...Fla. is not too bad a vacation spot! :)

Thanks crazee kat....I am glad to know there are others from the division going to Pensacola.  Are you following another group for Aviation on N4Ms?  I am looking forward to hearing his "orders" soon?!?!!!!

So sorry about your father...

My son is in Aviation too and will go to Pensacola as well!  I am not sure of his status other than he is an Aircrewman... so I don't know if that means ET or EM or some of the other listings that were posted.  He did not know when he would be leaving as of the last phone call -- I am thinking (hopefully) Tuesday after PIR.  I am glad my son will have others from bootcamp that will be going with him!

KDB1 I am so sorry for your loss and your family will be in my prayers.  I was kind of wondering what happened to you after not seeing you in the forum for a while.  You are doing just what I would do in your place, your SR is so very close to graduation and is probably in the most stressful part of boot camp right now.   I would spare him that news for now.  If I remember correctly SailorsWife's husband is in aviation I will let her answer about details.  Changes happen all the time "the needs of the Navy" trumps everything and I am sure he will do fine wherever he goes to school.  Best of luck to your SR.

Again my deepest sympathy I am not too good at finding the right words at a time like this.

Hello all!  Sorry it has been a while since I was on site...  My father passed away suddendly last week.  We got back home from being away for visitation and funeral on Sunday eve.

We did get a call from our SR last Wednesday before we left town.  We have not told our SR about his Grandfather's passing.  The tone of the conversation was kinda down so I didn't want to burden him with bad news.  He only has a little time left at BC and I didn't want him to worry and not focus on what he is dealing with there.

I think some of my SR's feelings were because things have changed and he is now going to Pensecola instead of his original A school destination.  I know some of your SR's are going there as well.  Have any of you heard when they will leave GL and head to Pensecola.  From the looks of things that is a huge base.  My SR is going into Aviation.  Not sure but I think he will be ET.  My SR seems to be handling the "change" well and wants to do his best.  I am glad to hear they did well on the inspections and other tests. Maybe that will lift his spirits a little.

Are any of you on other N4M's groups for Pensecola or Aviation?  Just want to check in with those groups as well to see if I can pick up any tips and info.

Thanks for "listening" to this comment.

Emlovee -- congrats on the baby boy... I hope maybe someday we can all see pictures of him... will this group stay open and active after PIR?  I never thought of that until now... I really mean it when I say I don't think I could have made it through this experience without all of you!  MaGil -- congrats on the birthday boy as well!

I sure hope our SRs are not grad and go -- really want to spend the weekend with him!  It looks like there will be snow on the ground -- hope to see a LIGHT snowfall while I am there!  (not too much please -- ha ha)

TexasMom -- I bought me some "not so attractive" Chicago shoes.. I am packing lots of layers to wear -- my little carryon is going to be HEAVY!  I hope your son is doing better... I am glad they seemed to have forgotten about his little mishap -- I am sure there are more little mishaps from some of our SRs that we just don't know about... they are sooooo close now.. PIR is just around the corner... I am hoping the all get to watch the Super Bowl next weekend!  My son is a huge football fan, and a huge GreenBay fan!  Go Cheeseheads!

Yes Emlovee, he told me that too lol. Go figure they couldn't give it to him BEFORE the phone call!

*Hurry up and wait!*
