Hi!  Kathie, my son turns 19 right after PIR on the 15th.  Please let them all graduate on time.  That sure would be a nice birthday present.

SailorsWife, I don't think that they are calling the RDC's nice anymore. lol

I'm still hoping for a call.  Hey I even put the cell phone next to me while I'm sleeping.  You never know.  No mail today.

Kathie, I'm not sure if the first Sunday counts because they technically weren't supposed to call that day lol. Maybe they had a nice RDC or something LOL. And it's not too late, I've read people getting phone calls up to 8pm.

This site has alot of answers.... one items states that they only get to call home three times during their stay... I would think the first Sunday would have been considered the first call... so we have 2 more to look forward to.  Just FYI

Texas Mom (Linda), your son must be doing great if he has gotten a "position" as such, I am curious how old he is... my son turned 19 right before he left.  I sure was hoping for a phone call today.... think it may be too late now to still expect one.  DARN!

I know they are breaking them down and building them back up and part of that is probably no contact with the people they are used to depending on.  Makes it hard on those of us that are those people though!

Texasmom, that's a heart break! I really hope my husband is doing good! No news is good news I keep telling myself. Ugh.

They are supposed to call, so no news is good news I'm hoping.

I'm sure if your son was in football in texas where football is paramount to everything that he is in really good shape.  All those football camps in 100+ degree weather can be gruelling.

I'm praying that after the initial breakin period everything should get easier from now on.  They learn what is to be expected.  Definitely a bummer to be punished on Christmas Day.

I'm also going to knit a scarf for the PIR.  I hate to sew.

Hope we hear from them again soon.

Wow, I am starting to wonder if ignorance is bliss!  I will keep praying for all those in our division... I am hoping if my son ended up on a stretcher or in psych that they would let me know... (anyone know if they do)... my son played football for 6 years and was in good shape I know physically he can do it... wonder about mentally though!  Today is the 3rd Tuesday.... I am praying for a call for all of us.  37 days...

Hi!  I did get a letter today.  It was a tough one to read.  My ex had scanned it and emailed to me so I read it at work.  He explained that he didn't have time to write more than one letter with everything he wanted to say.

I was tearing up as I read it.  He was obviously very exhausted getting less than 4 hours of sleep a night and the gruelling IT sessions leaving him  exhausted.  I think that he gets less sleep than the others, or so he explained, since he is the starboard watch officer and he needs to make sure the watches are covered.

He also explained that they didn't have much of a Christmas since they had 1 1/2 hours of IT for punishment.  Some recruite purposedly farted on the chief' during inspection.  3 recruits were brought to the hospital on stretchers.  He did joke that he will come out of boot camp super buff if this keeps up.

As of the 27th, when he wrote the letter he said that they started out with 73 and went down to 62 with half in medical and the rest in psych.  I'm hoping that the infractions will reduce and they can earn some liberties such as phone calls.

I am really proud of all these recruits.  The first PT test was on the following day, the 28th, so hopefully they all passed with flying colors.  According to my son, if they pass they get a pay grade increase.  Since he is a nuke, they don't get a bump since they are already E3.  He is hoping to pass anyway.

Hope we all hear more soon.

I didn't hear anything either.  I am hoping that we will hear this week from them.  I still haven't heard from him since the call on the first Sunday.  Keeping checking the mailbox and I take the cell phone everywhere.  I think this week is weapons training.  Hopefully that will  be more fun for them.  Hope this week we will hear more from our recruits.

Linda
