Hi, my son is in this Division. We got one letter from him last week which made very difficult reading. It was full of self-doubts and fears. We are waiting for the next letter this week. In the meantime, we have written four letters. How is your child doing?
he seems to be doing ok so far he said they had the Tornado sirens go off did your son say anything about this? My son is almost 21 and has lived away from home off and on the last 2 years so that may be why he seems to be doing ok he said he needed focus and Discipline. I bet this weeks letter will be better
My son sends letters that are full of doubt as well.  Then he will make a very grown up comment and sound like he is doing very well!  I feel like I am riding a roller coaster of emotions!  How old is your son?  Mine is 18.  Do you know how many kids are in division 263?
My son is also in this division.  We got a phone call on Friday and he sounded really good.  We were gone on vacation at the time and were in an area without much cell phone coverage.  By some bizarre chance I turned on my phone moments before he called.  He did mention the tornado sirens.  When we got home on Saturday we had three letters waiting for us.  One he sounded good, one he sounded homesick and one just to wish us a happy 4th of July.  I hope you got phone calls as well.  It sure made us feel good to hear his voice and have some contact with him.  I keep sending him a letter or post card every other day or so just to encourage him.
yes I recieved a call on Friday also 35 min it was great best way to start the weekend!!!
my Son is 20 spent 2 years in college first before he decided to join the Navy
we are neighbors. My son is Div 264. My son wrote a letter telling us about the tornado he said they were outside and marching when the tornado touch down, his commander yelled "Break formation and they all ran into the building. My son is a California boy, he said it was the scariest thing he ever saw. He did say they are tough on him but he can handle it. They assigned them all jobs to keep them busy. My son sounded ok. just really tired. He said they only sleep about 4 hours a night. I think if they have made it this far, they are going to make it. My son also said.  Some of the guys were breaking down and the commanders took them aside and talked to them to pull it together. So they are helping them cope and get through. That was a big relief for me to hear. My son is loving it he said it's really neat he is learning lots. But he is very homesick. God Bless our Sailors!
My son said the same thing about 12 went home. He also said it's hard when they are inside at night. He said they have hardley any access outside. He also didn't know how long he'd been there. I write him everyday with the date on the letter so it helps him.

the letter we got this week was alot better it sounds like they are getting into the fun stuff now learning ship things and stuff like that including weapons(my sons favorite) we are a big gun family so he likes that part. We talked to him on Friday that sure was nice and he sounded good then, the letters before this weeks seemed stressed and tired but I think we will find each one after this better and better. I hope your son is doing well

my son seems to be doing ok he has the benefit of being almost 21 and has been away from home most of the last 2 years is first letters where hard reading but the one we got this week sounded so much better and the phone call Friday sounded good also I think the hard part is almost over they are starting to do the fun stuff like train on the ships and work with the guns so I hope that makes the time go by faster for them half way done!!! I am ready for PIR booked everything already
I miss my call on Friday, I beat myself up over that for .....well I still am! He left about a 5 minute message...he started out strong, then started to cry telling us how much he missed us.....It BROKE MY HEART!  He really needed to hear my voice. But it is nice to replay the message when ever I miss him.  Talking to him would have been better though.   I have sent him a letter everyday so he has about 20 letters from us. LOL.  I am glad your son is enjoying it now.  My younger son received a letter from his brother today, he said they shaved their heads bald and they yell at them a lot, he said, they are just words. It's good to know that part doesn't affect him too much. We are booking are stuff all tomorrow. I am just nervous what if he is a grad and go? I sure hope not, would love to spend the extra time with him. Keep marking the days off your calender!

We got letters yesterday and my son sounds good except for his frustration over teamwork not being there.  Have any of you checked out the US navy recruit training page on facebook?  They post random pictures.  There is a picture under random photos July 19 (under the photos tab) that I swear I see my son in it!  It's like playing Where's Waldo! This is even worth joining facebook for.
