Moms/Wives of 11/180: We were great support for each other during boot camp. Let's keep in touch and update each other on how our sailors are doing. PIR was awesome, but liberty was too short.

Hi everyone. So glad to hear that all the Sailors are doing well. Jeff is now in ATT (Advanced Technical training), he has about 21 days till he starts STRAND. No word as to where he will be going yet. He is an Electricain's Mate. He will be staying at GL till October.
I have to say we have some very special Sailors!!
Glad to hear all the moms are doing well also.
Hi, so nice to hear from you. It sounds like ship 180 is doing good....no surprise there! They were a great team in BC, as were we!
My son completed BESS (basic submarine school) at the end of July and my husband and I flew from CA to CT to attend the graduation. It was really nice and much more lowkey than PIR. They actually stopped to let you take pictures as they received their certificates. The admiral from Bangor, WA was one of the presenters. My son is now in ATT, then TCNO, which are technical schools (basic electronics, then network administration). These last about 4 weeks each and are self-paced, with a trainer available. Then he will begin A school for submarine navigation (ET-NAV). I'm not sure how long that lasts - I think 6-9 months. A lot depends on how fast they class up. After that, there could be a C-school for further training. We (and he) are hoping that he eventually will get deployed on the west coast so that we can see him more often. Conneticut is beautiful. We were able to spend the weekend with him and go to some of the beaches and local attractions. We went to Mystic Seaport which was absolutely gorgeous - just what you would think of the New England coast.
My best to you all. I think of you often with a warm heart and appreciation for your being there for (with) me through a really tough time. It is still tough sometimes, but he is happy. We Skype with him at least once a week, as well as text and emails. It helps alot. I guess we will never stop missing them.
Hooyah!
Well Brandon Thornburg and Erica Thornburg got married yesterday! I thought they were going to keep it a secret untill the real "wedding" when he gets back from his first deployment but they just could not keep it in!!! Please help me pray for them and thier new life together as Hubby and Wiffy! May God Bless them in every way! She will stay home when he gets back from his first deployment.
Thank those that have served and are serving, for today we are celebrating our independence.
Great weekend with Jeff, he's back at GL for watches.
Amtrak was a disaster this weekend. His train was 3 hours late on Friday night and over an hour last night, but I am so thankful I got to spend time with him and 2 other Sailors. Hope everyone is having a great 4th of July. I miss not chatting every day.
