Moms/Wives of 11/180: We were great support for each other during boot camp. Let's keep in touch and update each other on how our sailors are doing. PIR was awesome, but liberty was too short.

No...sadly not.
It WAS his day off though. So we coordinated the times (he is eight hours ahead) and he called during lunch and was able to speak with his new Sailor.
I keep forgetting that we are a 2 blue star flag family (for now). Have to get a new flag!
I bought him Navy Dad stuff too. He loves hoodies!
I was sitting behind a gentlman in a campaign hat. I believe it was law enforcement.
Here was the response I got from RTC on the newspaper notice:
"The recruits are given the opportunity to complete a Fleet Hometown News agency form during boot camp. Those forms are sent to Fleet Hometown News agency who, in turn, sends the information to the newspaper(s) in the recruits' zip code(s).
We recommend you contact your local newspapers to find out what their turnaround time is for receiving and publishing military news items."
Hope this helps!
Julie-I loved your post.
janh-thank you it would be great to find out!
Love the pics that are coming up!
Hi all. Well it looks like everyone had a fantastic time at PIR. I wish we would have had a little more time with our son (just Thursday until 6:00 pm), but he is loving Groton and had liberty for the weekend there so he was able to get settled and check things out.
I believe I read somewhere in these N4M or FB posts that the Navy sends the information to the sailor's local newspaper. I will post a question on the RTC main page and see if I can get some info and will get back to you all.
