Ship 11/180 Moms AFTER Bootcamp

Moms/Wives of 11/180:  We were great support for each other during boot camp.  Let's keep in touch and update each other on how our sailors are doing.  PIR was awesome, but liberty was too short.

Julie, I don't think RTC does anything.  But I know our local paper publishes births and marriages and graduations if we send the info.  I would send it, without necessarily identifying where JD went (in case there is some security thing we aren't thinking of).  I agree, it was AWESOME and Ben looked taller too.  What is that about?  In all the pictures I am staring adoringly at him.  geez.

Julie, so sorry I did not meet you.  My one complaint about PIR was that it was such a whirlwind and we were all so focused on our boys, of course.  Your Mom should get her "bragging rights."  My parents are still calling people and emailing photos.  We had 11 at lunch.   Sounds like you did too.  We went to Giordano's in Gurnee.  There were 2 other sailor families there.  Where did you all go?

Ria, did I see you at the airport with your sailor?  did you guys ask me about gate passes?  If so, I am so sorry I did not know it was you.  Glad to have you with us.  OMG, love the photo.  My son looked at this page and advised the previous photo was of 179.  gasp. I switched it out to the lower quality, but proper division photo above.

My gosh, every time I read what you guys say, it brings a tear to my eye.  Please post your pictures on this page.  I would love to see your boys. Also, please note we are still graced by A.M. Sailor in this group so we can bug her with questions.  I have never felt so much pride or love for my son and I felt if for my country too.  My flag is flying away.  I forced everyone in my office to look at my boy's grad. photo.

Got Back about 11PM last night...I here you about the laundry...and now have time to focus on the house more!

I am pooped. We were at 3 airports yesterday! My neighbor is inviting us over for carne asada dinner. YAY! I don't have to cook and it will be nice NOT to eat out! I ate too much! We LOVE Cracker Barrel as we live in CA and don't have them here (and I don't want them to come here!). We tried a few other places and I will put it in my Blog.

I think I know the Gurnee Mall inside and out. LaLa warned me about how it is set up. I will talk about that too!

It was great fun meeting all of you other 18o Moms, wives, GF, fiancees, dads and our one Sailor DforMegan. I am really glad he came to the M & G! We just had to see him face-to-face. Semper Fortis!

I am so thankful for the extra days with our son. He wanted to see a movie and just shop and be with us. He's in Pensacola and has a room mate from his division.

Glad you started this Group laurelbc! Thanks!

I am Blogging about our trip (since we don't travel!). The main title is "BLOG OPS" PIR 05/26/2011 with subheadings. I only have a couple of days done but am looking forward to getting on it while it is all fresh. I wil add pics too.

And I really am considering making that patch...LOL

Welcome Home Families of 180!

We spent time with his friends also. They were some very funny guys! We laughed alot! Did not do much more than hang out. Went to Navy pier, and the Mall like 4 times.... the guys went to the movies and I shopped some. Funny one of the guys did not want to see the movie and walked around with me when I shopped..LOL it was funny. We ate alot. I wish we would have seen some more sights in Chicago but Brandon didn't want to...oh well. Hope we can all keep in touch!

Hi all you great 180 moms. I've been missing you! Our son shipped out to Groton, CT Friday morning (6 am). We met him at the airport. We heard from him this morning and he loves it. He's bunking with 2 other ship 11 sailors and they have liberty until Tuesday. There are other relatively new sailors who are showing them the ropes. There's talk of going to NYC which is about an hour away or Boston (they are right in between the two). We had about 6 hours with him after PIR, ate a couple of meals, he got a PRIVATE shower and hung out (I brought a pair of his flannel pants, thermal shirt, and real Underwear. Also his cellphone and computer which we took to the airport in the infamous black backpack. I got to meet ProudNavyMom and OMG at PIR. I almost stood up and called out to all 180 navymoms to standup.

We loved the graduation ceremony. It was just awesome to see how far they have come in 8 weeks .We have enjoyed liberty with our sons, and were very lucky as both of them are staying in GL for A school, and will have 5 days with our boys! It was nice to meet some of you, and wish that we could have had more of a chance to talk after graduation, but it did get crazy as soon as liberty was called. We also had to get pictures for M. as he only had a savings account, and not a checking, and was not able to access his money. :/ I would love to keep in touch and hear updates on how all of your sailor's are doing.
