Hey everyone, when you talk/write to your Sailors..please ask them if they know anyone who isn't getting letters or has no one to 'hang' with on PIR and lets volunteer. A MOM on this site suggested it and said she did it when her son got out of boot camp and it really was refreshing for the person who had no one nor anyplace to go after PIR for even just a few hours. Anyones thoughts? My son's name is Aaron...I am going to write him about this today. ;-)

Great..can't wait to meet everyone. I hope most are planning on going to the Ramada on Thur night for a meet and greet!

okay, now I have reservations at both and will have to make a decision...not my strong point :( Leaning toward the Residence, I'll decide tonight so I don't cause someone else to miss out on a reservation.

My parents are coming too, they are my son's godparents as well as his grandparents and his older brother and some of the younger sibs too. So we are booking 2 rooms.

hey whoshero, the reason I booked the Residence Inn by marriott is that they have two bedroom, two bathroom with living area (with pull out couch) and sleep six rooms. I am brining my older parents to PIR so thought just having them in the room (their own bedroom) would work well. Just a thought. Pricing wasn't bad..I think it was $138 and includes breakfast but still cheaper than two or three rooms as my youngest daughter and sister are coming just to see Aaron after the PIR ceremony. Also..like the idea of having a living room area for Aaron to rest in if he needs it?!? Regardless..I think anyplace ones stays is fine....

I've made reservations at the Courtyard but am thinking of changing to the Residence...the Residence has complimentary breakfast but the Courtyard doesn't mention that. I like that some of us can eat while others are getting ready, I think there will be 7-8 of us. My son called his gf but she was working and wasn't able to pick up the call so he left a message. You could hear his disappointment. (I might be repeating myself :) I can't remember what I've said where.)

Megan's Mom, I didn't get a call either, but let's not get worried-- no news is good news too. Please whoever gets a call, post about it. Thanks!

That is true, I dont think divisions usually have any more than 100 SRs so there is a good chance they all know each other or will eventually! I am so excited and thankful for this group! I am learning so many exciting new things. I swear i dont think i could have made it without this website!

Oh, I guess it was NM Loretta that said she will be staying at Residence Inn. I'll let my husband decide, as long as it's clean & has an indoor pool for my little girl too. I read somewhere that someone's son said they had 87 in his division. Not sure if all divisons have around the same #.

Jasons Wife, I'm glad you asked. I didn't realize there are 2 different Marriotts. I'm pretty sure it's the Residence Inn. BTW, I just read that after 3 wks, they can actually make calls on days other than Sunday.
