FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO GET STARTED:

Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I purchase my non-refundable tickets right before Christmas.  For the cost of the refundable tickets I could of bought two regular tickets.  It's a gamble, but I thought about how much this ment to my SR, and how hard he actually had to work to get in.  I didn't think he would give up easily once he got there.

I based making my reservations on the positive signs in the letters, such as doing well and passing the tests....I feel confident that things are going as scheduled.  And with the gas prices rising the flight prices might keep rising as well.

is 3 weeks too soon to purchase flight tickets? We live in va beach and the rates are getting higher and in the back of my head I fear something may change for PIR

I just got back from RTC last month and the Ramada was close, has a pool, and also had a nice meet and great! I will also be going back on 2/4/11!!!!

Finally officially booked our room for PIR.  I feel better now that is over with. La Quinta Inn and Suites. One step closer....

thats a great about telling them to stay where they are....I'm bringing binoculars to help me see better too...I don't want to miss her...lol

I am happy Charity and Coline got to join us too.  We are up to 11, woohoo!  Another thing we have dicussed is with some 600 hundred sailor graduating that day.  Tell your sailor to stay where they are and you will com to them.

Glad you're here Charity! I missed the red scarf post too glad you asked I'm just now getting to log on every day. I love that there are more moms if girls :)
