Wonderful!! I'm so happy it sounds like everybody in this Division got to call!! I felt so bad after I posted about my call on the other Groups, because so many moms did not get calls. I'm reading up on Grad & Go (site is below), and getting tomorrow's letter ready to send - going to write him everyday from now on, instead of every other day, and I've sent out Facebook notices to his friends that they better get on the ball and write! I just re-read my prior post - sorry for all the typos, I guess I was too excited to hit the right keys! Ha! Now that I know he's ok, I'll be more patient with the occasional letters and phone calls - that first call is so much of a relief! so sorry to hear your sons are sick too, hope they all get better soon!
We got a call too and it was the best Christmas present ever. Said he has been sick, something about they gave them the flu and a penicillian shot all in the same day. Thank god he didn't have to get his wisdom teeth pulled too. Likes the food and has made some friends. He sounded tired but said he has no regrets and that it is tough but he is still glad he is there. Said he has gotten in trouble of couple times for minor things but nothing to serious and said first couple days there were the absolute longest in his life. Said there has been 3 guys ASMO'd, I think he said because of past medical reasons. It was great hearing from him and I can rest a little easier knowing he is doing ok. He was pretty disappointed that he didn't pass the first PT test because he missed it by 12 situps but has been doing situps every night so he will be prepared for the the test again in week 5. Did fine on the swimming and running but with all the training they have been doing his body was so sore he couldn't pull off any more situps. I hurt just thinking about it. Only thing he asked for was more stamps and lots of letters. I still miss him but hearing his voice and knowing he is doing ok will help me sleep a little better at night. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Just got a call - 1 HOUR long! sounded like they were letting everyone in his division call, so BE READY! I took lots of notes about everything - basically he's doing alright except that he's been sick since he got there, and misses home more than he thought he would, Said the whole Division is Grad and Go, and he'll try to find out more info and write me and we should get a packet in a couple of weeks, only has time to write on sundays, but wants lots of letters cause they get them every day. Eating more than he's ever eaten in his life and food is really good. the worst is getting woken up in the middle of the night by the ODC, got in trouble for talking at lunch, said that for the most part the Division gets along, but they all need to pick it up and not make mistakes. He's most worried about the inspections and tests, you have to pass 3 of each or you get ASMO'd (sp?). They shave and brush teeth in AM (7 minutes!) , shower at night, and in bed by 10,up by 5:00 AM or so. Doesn't like watch only because there is more chance to screw up by not saying exactly the right words to the ODCs or RDCs. He asked for stamps, envelopes, pre-addressed return labels and some polish clothes for shoeshining (tips of boots must be perfectly shines). Talked alot about how perfect the racks must be made, has had to sew 3 buttons since he's been there. Worst thing was when he said time was going really slow for him and waking up this morning knowing it was Christmas and he was not with us hit him really hard, but he's a strong kid, he'll be alright. Sundays they get ice-Cream sandwiches and said their chief was a pretty cool guy, only yells when they screw up, not all the time.Said they dress them really warm for outside marching. thats all I can think of for now, just wanted to share with you all the news I got! Hope you got a call, too! Merry Christmas!
