Nothing yet-I did read on the other groups that some were expecting calls today. That would be great! I'm hoping we start hearing more positive news soon -that things are going better, not as homesick, and not sick! Pls let us all know if you hear anything, thanks!

I finally got two letters yesterday, 12/31, saying a lot similar to yours.  Christmas dinner was a feast.  He was glad they got to make calls.  He said probably half the division has had or has the ricky crud.  He's missing home and the INTERNET.  They are "professional dust bunny hunters" having cleaned their room from top to bottom at least five times.  He likes his bunk mate and likes most of the division.  "When we start to work together, we will be deadly, I know it."   A couple of inspections were coming up last Monday and Weds.  Wanted us to wish him good luck but by the time we got the letters, it'd be too late.  (Little does he know, each and every day,we're all wishing them good luck and the strength to get through each of their daily challenges.)   He's looking forward to 2/11 as much as we are.

I'm trying to send a letter every day, but I'm sure they are boring, trying to come up with new stuff to make them interesting is a challenge!   He did say the Division is way behind and many are struggling - that makes me so sad about the guys breaking down, I hope they are bonding now and pulling together to hang tough and do well as a Division.   6 weeks from today! that sounds so long, better to say 41 days, I think!  I'm reading on the PIR2/11 group about the Moms wearing scarves and ribbons to Grad, I think they decided on Yellow scarves, but need to figure out what each Ship/Division is supposed to do.  My son loves music too, is a musician and I bet he really misses that too!

I got 2 letters in the mail Thursday 12/30/10.  Said all is good. Most of the stuff he wrote in his letters we talked about when he called Christmas morning.  Did say their division is starting to come together.  Spent 3 hours shining boots last Sunday for big inspection on Monday.  Asked me to send him the lyrics to a couple of songs that he had stuck in his head.  Mentioned how much he misses music.  Always had some kind of music in the back ground, I miss that now that it is so quiet.  I would constantly tell him to shut his bedroom door or turn it down.  I sent him a few band-aids in letter I took to the post tonight because he said he as blisters on his heals from his boots.  Said they fit ok but he hurries to put them on in mornings and maybe that has something to do with it??????  Can't wait for next weeks letter :)

I just posted this on the PIR2/11 Group site, but wantedto share with you all too.  Have you heard from your sailors in the last couple of days?  I went to the mailbox just now, and was so excited to see a letter from my son - It was written on Christmas day, postmarked on Monday - so 3 day delivery across the country, not bad.  Let's see - I'll try to share some news: commented on how great the Prime Rib was at Christmas, and actually completed 2 of those surveys I sent: Said his boots felt great, taught himself to sew and poked himself too many times, no "middle of the night" ironing clsses yet but heard they were coming, likes the cookies the best, all the food is good but only has 10 minutes to eat - and would love more time to eat, is sleeping ok but would love more time to do that too, send lots of letters, is homesick like everyone else.  THEN - I was flipping through my advertising mail - and found another letter I almost missed!!   YAY!  It was written on Chistmas Eve, he said he loved the jokes I sent him (usually he doesn't think I'm funny, he must be REAL homesick!), was worried about inspection and test this week - wonder if he passed!  He wrote "Love you Mom - Merry Christmas!" on the back.  Just think if I would have been so stupid as to miss that and throw it away with the junk mail!!!  Also said that Dec 27th was Week 2, Day 1, so that would make today Week 2, Day 4 (even though he left 3 weeks ago!)  Pls let me know what you've heard, any news about how the DIV is doing, or GradNGo?   I dont see any other moms on the other groups that are Ship 11 Div 065.  Have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!   42 more days....... never had time go so slow in my life.  Except maybe when I was pregnant -  HA!

Wonderful!! I'm so happy it sounds like everybody in this Division got to call!!   I felt so bad after I posted about my call on the other Groups, because so many moms did not get calls.   I'm reading up on Grad & Go (site is below), and getting tomorrow's letter ready to send - going to write him everyday from now on, instead of every other day, and I've sent out Facebook notices to his friends that they better get on the ball and write!  I just re-read my prior post - sorry for all the typos, I guess I was too excited to hit the right keys! Ha!  Now that I know he's ok, I'll be more patient with the occasional letters and phone calls - that first call is so much of a relief!  so sorry to hear your sons are sick too, hope they all get better soon!

We got a call too and it was the best Christmas present ever.  Said he has been sick, something about they gave them the flu and a penicillian shot all in the same day.  Thank god he didn't have to get his wisdom teeth pulled too.  Likes the food and has made some friends.  He sounded tired but said he has no regrets and that it is tough but he is still glad he is there.  Said he has gotten in trouble of couple times for minor things but nothing to serious and said first couple days there were the absolute longest in his life.  Said there has been 3 guys ASMO'd, I think he said because of past medical reasons.  It was great hearing from him and I can rest a little easier knowing he is doing ok.  He was pretty disappointed that he didn't pass the first PT test because he missed it by 12 situps but has been doing situps every night so he will be prepared for the the test again in week 5.  Did fine on the swimming and running but with all the training they have been doing his body was so sore he couldn't pull off any more situps.  I hurt just thinking about it. Only thing he asked for was more stamps and lots of letters.  I still miss him but hearing his voice and knowing he is doing ok will help me sleep a little better at night.  MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Just got a call - 1 HOUR long!  sounded like they were letting everyone in his division call,  so BE READY!  I took lots of notes about everything - basically he's doing alright except that he's been sick since he got there, and misses home more than he thought he would, Said the whole Division is Grad and Go, and he'll try to find out more info and write me and we should get a packet in a couple of weeks, only has time to write on sundays, but wants lots of letters cause they get them every day.    Eating more than he's ever eaten in his life and food is really good.  the worst is getting woken up in the middle of the night by the ODC, got in trouble for talking at lunch, said that for the most part the Division gets along, but they all need to pick it up and not make mistakes.  He's most worried about the inspections and tests, you have to pass 3 of each or you get ASMO'd (sp?).  They shave and brush teeth in AM (7 minutes!) , shower at night, and in bed by 10,up by 5:00 AM or so.  Doesn't like watch only because there is more chance to screw up by not saying exactly the right words to the ODCs or RDCs.  He asked for stamps, envelopes, pre-addressed return labels and some polish clothes for shoeshining (tips of boots must be perfectly shines).  Talked alot about how perfect the racks must be made, has had to sew 3 buttons since he's been there.  Worst thing was when he said time was going really slow for him and waking up this morning knowing it was Christmas and he was not with us hit him really hard, but he's a strong kid, he'll be alright.  Sundays they get ice-Cream sandwiches and said their chief was a pretty cool guy, only yells when they screw up, not all the time.Said they dress them really warm for outside marching.   thats all I can think of for now, just wanted to share with you all the news I got! Hope you got a call, too!  Merry Christmas!
