@ Dee - We're too close, don't jump! LOL We're the moms, so who are they going to vent the most too and want the most sympathy from, us the moms! I know my son's first letters ripped my heart out and I was ready to form an extraction team to go in and get him out!!! LOL This has been quite an experience for them as well as us, it's been an emotional mess, but we are soooo close now:) Hang in there, ice cream always helps!!!

I got a letter too today too! It sounds like she got her sense of humor back. This is the first letter that actually made me laugh instead of wanting to cry (and it was a lot neater too). She only talked about passing her tests, her desired rating, she ordered pictures for me (that she doesn't like and wants to burn...lol) and her usual.....don't forget this, tell so and so that, etc, etc.

Wow, what a surprise.

Lonnie'smom- LOL...still grounded...LOL!

(sigh) well a letter I wish I hadn't opened.. I know, sad to say, but someone better quickly grab my hand and get me AWAY from the ledge..... lol.. Yep, was NOT like the other bubbly ones. Talk about some major freaking out! And of course, not being able to talk her down, like I have been doing for the past year, makes me move closer to the edge. (sigh). Nov 12th can't come fast enough.. sorry ladies but I truly have reached my level of calmness. But, I called my son who is a JR. @ SIUC, and he told me I was just being paranoid, and that ALL of us, yes I mentioned my group of friends..all of YOU, need to just take each day at a time, knowing that a week goes by really, really fast. (sigh)

But, on a brighter note.... they are so done w/gas chamber. All in the div. did just fine she said and Lady. Guess I have another guest at my Thanksgiving table.. your daughter :O)

Okay, so maybe I'll just raid the freezer of the half gallon of Rocky Road Ice cream. Now where is that spoon. :O)

It was in Sunday's paper, October 31st, and it was in the local paper. I really think that the military had something to do with it, because it listed his grandfather but not grandmother (grandpa was his emergency contact on his military paperwork) and all our friends and family would have listed grandma too! It was in like the community section, titled "In Service". Good luck ladies, hope you guys get one too:)

@ Dee and Kelly- so glad you guys are getting letters!!! My son is still grounded cause I haven't heard from him since that Saturday phone call! lol He acts like he's too busy for mom:) ha ha

TOO COOL LONNIE! So was this a local newspaper? But than my hubby's extended family is so huge (last name) that I'm sure I would have gotten a call by now or a FB message. I did find out though that my suburb does this welcome home thing with balloons and the local police dept/fire department at the family's choice of location. But not for Boot Camp, only after on tour/active duty. :O(

Hey ladies, FYI, one of my husbands' coworkers came in today and told him that our son was in the paper, a military announcement! It had to have come from the military because it talks about the training and BS 21, not information that family or friends would know? Maybe you ladies should check your local papers? Maybe the military puts announcements out? Idk, but it really is kinda neat! Let me know if anyone else finds theirs?
@ lady - you're welcome:)
