Dee- but you all have Big Boys!
Kelly- we are staying at the Navy Lodge too and driving up from TN. I really can't imagine anything going wrong with the gas chamber except if may be one of the recruits has an alleric reaction to it. I wonder if its anyting like the pepper spray the police use except in gas form.
So, they can wear reg clothes as long as they are not in public? By the way I too dont like when they wear PJ pant in public. Its like they are to lazy to get dressed. Nor do I like it when the girls jeans show off her spare tire or the boys and the baggy jeans down to their butts. Okay, that was my fashion pet peeves.
Maybe its just me, but when I was that age I did everything to HIDE my fat and look preppy. Oh that just dated me.

Kelly- would love to meet you at the meet and greet. I hope you can make it.

11 days on Monday....Wow! I feel like there is sooo much to do to get ready for this trip. But ready or not....here I come!! I think we are at the Motel 6 off of Green Bay Road right between the Base and the Ramada. Paid for our ribbons yesterday and got our blue flag today. I haven't felt excitement like this since her first dance recital when she was 5!!

Dee- we have Chick-A-Fil on the west coast. The kids love it! And...lol...I saw a young girl going into the store the other day with those flannel pants on and thought to myself I am getting older...lol...she was in her pajamas to me :-)

Nope I'm at the Marriott, 3 miles from The Base. Are you going to the Thursday night Meet & Greet @ the Ramada Kelly?

Holly; Yep, sounds like after 8 weeks of work all they want to do is veg. and I don't blame them! Heck after a 9 hour work shift I'm spent I can't imagine what 8 weeks does for the body/mind. White Castle.. LOL.. Yet again one of those things I take for granted having them all over here. But you south folks have that Chik a File ? place? Which they are "trying" up here. Shoney's never made it, wonder if that place will!

Thanks for the "bring them a change of clothes for inside the room" Soooo true! Mine wants her flannel pants and slippers. I can't believe they actually walk out in public with those things! Yep, I'm dating myself AGAIN.

And as for the video. There are no boot camp/basic training pics ANYWHERE. hhmm wonder why..LOL.. So all those stills are in video format from the two Navy Recruit Videos from YouTube. Hence why they approved it I guess. :O) But yes, my recruit wrote me and said she didn't want the yearbook cause she said she didn't want one in HS she sure don't want one from bootcamp.LOL

Floss- that sounds soooo good except peanut butter is not my friend..I'm allergic :-(

really feel honored that it is getting the response it is. I did have to have it "approved, which was 5 days ago! LOL" hence the security issue.

Floss/Lady- we polish folk make those cookies we call them dewdrops. Which to me sounds like it should be something with lemon.lol I love how different cultures/geographic areas have different names for the same things. Really cool.

Floss: The blue candle, and YES they sell BLUE bulbs! Is for any navy military person who is away from home on a mission, in a hositle area, or, the basic training community has now adopted it for their "rite of passage" to help them "find their way" in becoming a sailor. I'm trying to research to see if other branches have this tradition because they are called "welcome home lights" at Michaels & online store.

For those of you with kids going to A school in GL, I believe that they have to check in with their A school (it will take about 5 hours) but then they'll get liberty. That's what I was told by my son's recruiter? I don't know how true it is, but seems like I've read that on this website too! Idk but you might want to check into it? Good Luck:)

@ Floss- so your son sounds like mine, he loves his sweets!

@ Lady- I didn't get anything today either (it's really not like him) but thank you so much for the prayers:)

@ Dee- Yes, i loved the video too, awesome! Definately a tear jerker, especially when I haven't heard from him in 2 weeks! I guess grounding him is out of the question! lol

ladypinkhatter- blackeyed susans are kinda like a peanutbutter cookies with a hersheys kiss in the center and buckeyes are peanut butter balls dipped in chocolate to resemble a buckeye.
