Kelly- so glad to know your son is okay.

My son sounded really good about his new situation. So hopefully everything will work out fine. He did tell me that he really enjoyed the marlin spike because they were doing "real navy stuff". He got introuble for not being able to answer a question correctly while on roving patrol and had to do sit ups, push ups and 8 whatever "body killers" are. I'm sure he won't forget the answer the next time. He said that they may get to earn another phone call if they pass another test and inspection, I think is what he told me. I believe they are at the shooting range this week.

Dee- that's great what you are doing with the home cooked meals. Really 18 miles. Well I guess they have to draw the line somewhere.

There is a great article here on NavyMoms for the GL A schoolers. Phases of Liberty at A-School. If a sailor has a liberty weekend yep, they and their buddy can hang out at the big outlet mall, go to Great America, go downtown or come to my house for a BRBQ. :O) But Great Lakes has had that Adopt a Sailor Thanksgiving program for as long as I remember.. I remember it as a little girl when I lived even closer to Great Lakes. Seems the Navy appreciates Thanksgiving as much as I do. My favorite holiday. Do hope my recruit, soon to be Sailor will be home..clicking my ruby shoes, fingers and toes crossed..

Dee- so if a Sailor knows you, does that mean the Sailor can have homecooked weekend or holiday meals with you and your family?

Remember Moms of GL A school Sailors. Homecooked weekend or holiday meals at my home for your Sailors. Plus a ride back and forth to base. :O) Side Note: Great Lakes turned us down for the "adopt a Sailor" which would be unknown Sailors, ones that don't have plans or anywhere to go. They said we were 18 miles too far :O(

No letter here but should come tomorrow (if she wrote to me this week). Last week's letter came on Friday (due to the holiday). I'm still on "cloud 9" from last weekends phone call!

Holly- that was a great letter and thanks for sharing with us.

Kelly- glad to hear your recruit is ok and doing great.

Letzfly- San Diego is not too far from me and lots of great Navy Moms in SoCal.

22 more days and counting! HooYah!!

We got letters today too! He returned one of the questionaires I had sent and that provided the most info ever! He also included a letter from another recruit for his 16 year old sister. Apparently he saw her photo and thought he'd like to get to know her. I hope it's just for fun and entertainment because there isn't any way she's dating! He also told us that his A school is going to be 19 weeks at GL then 10 at San Diego.
I'm going to send another questionaire now and try to get some more info!
