So happy to hear your sons have made friends and will go to A School together. I've had so little communication with my son that I'm not sure who he's hanging out with but his school is in GL.

Wow, well kinda funny because I found out today that my son, God bless him, is not only in the same ship/division with Willsmom son, but they will be heading to A-school together in California. It's Awesome to know that my son will not be going through this incredible phase/journey by himself. I've heard that they have actually bonded and are buddies there in GL. My baby is only 19 and as a parent just feel good for my son that he will have a pal going through everything he is going through and they can support each other through basic training to ensure they both make it to Cali :) YEH! So Excited. Thanks Willsmom.

Tickled Tink, thanks for the info about the wanna get away fares. We were just looking at those last night...didn't realize that those will disappear as it gets closer. It gets complicated for us because one of us will be using free airmiles with another carrier and those are nonrefundable...ahhhh. Add to that that we're going to SF the weekend before for a Piano Recital for my daughter and trying to rush back to fly out again for Chicago a few days later...It's all so very complicated...and expensive! Oh what we do for our children :-)

Willsom, You are probably wise to drive even though it's a long one. It'll still save you a lot of $. We'll all have to pray for safe travels for everyone and a confirmed PIR for our SR's

booked the hotel, that is.  I agree, though, if I were flying,, I'd be so hesitant to book a flight because it all just seems so up in the air right now.  Perhaps next weeks calls will help us all to feel a bit more sure of ourselves...

I booked early, but am driving.  Long, long drive ahead, but that's okay with me!

Lisa- don't wait too long because once it gets closer to the date (I think within 3 weeks but I'm not sure) the wanna get away fares go away, and then you'd be looking at having to pay the higher fares which are like $400 each way

I agree NYRican, I get more support here than anywhere else. The info is so invaluable to, it makes you feel bad for those poor souls who don't know about N4M.

We got our hotel reservations for the Courtyard by Marriott (Waukegan/Gurnee)...now plane tickets in the next couple weeks. The plane tickets make me nervous, don't want to book too soon or wait too long. Also, it's going to be expensive for 3 to fly. I'm going to use Southwest because of their cancellation policy, but the times available for any reasonably priced ticket are redeye flights. Add in the west coast to central time difference :-)  Also, now hoping I'll make the meet n greet.

@tickledtink; how funny:) since "J" is just like the name "Jay" everyone thinks that's his name. I love the name Julian and as with Justin there is no nick name. Jay would hate to be called Jules, lol :)

Thanks Willsmom, your note helped immensely :)
I still haven't bought flight tickets since so concerned about what can happen. I think I'll wait another week and see if Jay calls or writes and tells me that he is doing good in training and feels sure about himself. Thanks all, this Page is so helpful and full of support and inspiration :)
