I got the call too!!! He didn't get me on my cell so had to eat up a few extra minutes using his calling card to call the home #...but he called! Said the same thing, that they had earned it. He said that he has rec'd 2 of my letters, on the same day and that he's sent me one now. So good to hear from him!!

This is the 3rd phone call I got from my SR, 1st call "I'm here" 05/12; 2nd call (day10) 05/22; and 3rd one (day16) 05/28. He is in ship 12/div224. He explained that they "earned" the phone call since their ship/div is doing pretty well! He said that the RDCs are really pushing them to learn and work as a whole team, and as a incentive they get to call their families. Tomorrow they will start receiving/mail letters. I received the form letter just yesterday and only had an address then. I guess he'll have to wait for another week to get my letters...

Just got a call from my son!  3 minutes, 22 seconds.  It was good to hear from him! He said they are getting our letters, and theirs will go out Sunday.  Next week, we should be receiving them!  YEAH!

A new day!  One day closer to seeing my dear son, to feeling that hug that no one else can give!  Thank you all for the support, advice and chuckles you give on this site!  Everyone one of you are in my prayers, cause when I feel sad, lonely, apprehensive or anxious, I know I am not the only one, so I pray for all of you, as well.

I do look at the photos every day, but haven't seen my skinny, baldheaded sons smiling face yet!  I keep looking, though!  :)

I got the form letter from my Joel! HOOYAH! I'm just so excited to finally mail him all my letters! Even though I know what ship/div he was in, he instructed me to wait for his form letter! Ladies, I miss my husband too, every minute of every day. Especially now.. Check the link I posted earlier, so you'll know what the first week is like for our SRs.

Willsmom...I too thought I was prepared for this.  Boy was I wrong.  But ya know, the proudness, if that's even a real word, that I feel is starting to over shadow the hurting in my heart.  When we took him to his recruiter's office to leave was the hardest day ever.  But ya know what?  As he walked away I noticed that he never looked back(not even a quick little wave!) which tells me he was sure of his direction. His head was held proudly and each step he took was steady and sure.  But the day I got "the box".  I was right back to the blubbering, sobbing mom.  Fed-ex lady thought I was nuts.  I never cried over dirty clothes before.  Gotta laugh about it now. I know he will when my hubby tells him the "Fed-ex box" story.  Chin up Willsmom, we are all gonna make it through!
