Anyone else out there? My son is in this ship/division. I am a new Navy mom. We are officially empty nesters now that Z has left for boot camp.

I was beginning to think I was out here all alone. Where are you from? What job is your daughter going to do? We are from Milwaukee, WI and Z is going on for CTI.
Funny, he is our oldest and the last to leave! We got his first real letter home today. I have to laugh at his description of the food. He says it's not too bad if it is identifiable when you order it! He says they are doing lots of IT ( intensive training) because some of the group cannot keep quiet. Will you be coming to PIR?

Yes - we will be at PIR on 9/16/11.  Two more weeks!  Yeah!  My daughter writes several times a week.  She is working on her 1.5 mile run and if she passes it, she will be good to go.  She will be a Ship's Serviceman and goes to "A" school in Mississippi.  Doesn't sound like we'll get much time with our kids after graduation.  We were planning to spend the entire weekend in Great Lakes but not sure what we'll do if she isn't there?  We are from Kansas City.

There is a great mall nearby and a huge amusement park. Downtown Chicago is drivable (or take the train). Depending on Z's departure time on Saturday, we will probably head to the airport to hang out with him. I understand we should be able to get gate passes. Milwaukee is just outside the 50 mile range, so we cannot bring him home on Friday. Fortunately, I have a brother that lives in Kenosha so we will hang at his house on Friday. There is lots to do!

My daughter is in this division.  We are empty nesters now too.  I write her almost every day (except Sunday).  Eagerly awaiting a letter or a phone call from her.  This is boot camp week 2.

Welcome, Laurie! I have been writing about every other day. He has obviously gotten letters because he answered some of my questions in the first real letter, which I got today.
My daughter is also in this division..Got a letter on Wednesday..she seems ok..We are also emptynesters..hard to get used to it. This is my second Navy child and I am so proud.
Welcome, cheysmom! It is hard to get us to having an empty nest! Harder than I thought! Where are you from and what job is your daughter pursuing?

We live in Texas. And my daughter is going to be Master at Arms (MA)..One of my sons is also in the Navy for about 2yrs now. He is a Corpsman. Very proud of both of them!

With great reason to be proud!  Are you going to be coming to PIR?

Oh Yes..I'll be there.. can't wait!!

Excellent!  I can't believe how quickly the time is going, at least for me - it may not be going as fast for our recruits!
