What an experience! We had such a great time spenging four days with my little brother! He was so grown up! Not the same 19 year old we sent off 2 months ago. We are so proud of who he has become. It was amazing being in Chicago and all of the people that came up to him and said thank you for your service! It was very hard and emotional to leave yesterday, but I am now looking forward to him going to Florida and the next phase of his Navy experience. It was nice meeting some of you and thanks for letting us borrow your binoculars Robsmom. We were sure we had him picked out, but little to our amazement he was the one right next to the one we thought was him! haha he was one of the tallest so he was in the very last row. I hope all is well with everyone!

Graduation was awesome wasn't it? fabnoble - you are right about all the emotions. In some ways, it is harder on me now to be away from him after spending the weekend with him. I am so proud of the man he has become. He really is diffent but in such a good way. There were so many complete strangers who came up to him, shook his hand and said thank you. It was so moving. I also experienced something that I will never forget. We went to the Cubs game at Wrigley on Friday. When they played the national anthem, I turned around to see my son standing at attention and saluting the flag. It was the most beautiful sight I have ever seen and something that I will never forget. I totally lost it and cried overcome by so much pride in my son, the Navy and our country. Thanks to all of you for being here and especially thank you for your sons. God bless all of them and you too!

I really did enjoy the graduation ceremony and meeting a couple of the moms...(even though it was very brief). I'm still wearing my bracelet and have my pin hanging in a special place. I felt so proud walking with him in his sailor uniform! I'm sure he was just glad to get the heck out of there! He's very excited about starting A-school and getting back to somewhat of a normal life.
fabnoble-what did you do over the weekend and where is your sailor reporting next? Mine will be at GL for A-school. We did go downtown on Friday and yesterday a bunch of them went downtown again. He said they had a great time. They got to ride all the water taxis for free so they went all over the city. I feel guilty because we're actually going to see him one more time tomorrow due to the fact that we're pretty close to base. After that, who knows?
Yeah....I'm sure we gave the RDC's a few laughs...but hey....we're Mom's. That's what we do...worry about our kids and that's something I'll never apologize for.:) My son thought they were pretty cool, also. So, here's to you RDC's, a mom's salute and thank you for helping our sons through BC.

How gtreat to meet you ladies . Hated to leave so quickly but husband and daughter were stuck at Navy Lodge with no car and no restaurants around. That's what they get for not coming to the meet and greet with me. Can't wait to see you tomorrow. I have my beautiful "mom" ribbon and the awesome bracelets. It's actually here ladies. Bravo Zulu Diviision 233!

Got my call too! Sounded good but tired and just wants to get on with A school. He mentioned something about some of the guys going to Great American for a day, but I really don't think anyone knows what they want to do yet. See you all tomorrow.

Kylesmom - the number is 847-689-1485. Very reasonable. Rooms are $65 night with no tax. Hope things work out for your son. If we get any info from our sons this weekend, we will let you know. I'm in Great Lakes now at the Navy Lodge.
