Thanks Robsproudmom for the info. I'm going to double check on the cell phone with my sailors brother.

I'm not sure about the duffel- but they say not to bring any electronics because they are not permitted to have them on base. At A-school they have to have permission-be able to have a cell phone or laptop is not always garenteed. I'll ask my sailors brother to double check though.

Robsproudmom-my son told me in his last letter to only bring his cell phone and charger because he might be able to have it then. He also said they will be getting new addresses even if they are staying in GL for A school and he would have the new address sometime after graduation. He has a box all packed with his laptop and civilian clothes that I am supposed to send when he gives me the new address. I'm sure they will know more as it gets closer but I would stick with the cell/charger for now.

Welcome MomSR , I too have gotten on here late and am very happy to hear that there are others out there who have the same rollacoster ride of emotions that I have been having ..All the ladies are very caring and helpful and definately have helped me to adapt to this situation a little easier . After graduation and liberty weelkend one mom said her son wanted her to bring a duffel of his stuff because he would be able to get it... Does anyone know if this is true...And can they get their cell phones after grad to keep?

Hello Ladies! I just spent the last hour going back and reading all of your comments since day one...I was a little late getting on here but wished I had weeks ago. Definitely was having all of the same emotions as each of you. I did receive letters last week, and a phone call. Finally! My son is good, loves it, but says they are really busy and it is hard to write everyone that is writing him. The call was quick, he was so afraid of being on too long and getting in trouble. Funny how things change. I just hope he is not one of the four that keep getting them in trouble...I will ask in the next letter. Doubtful, but you know how you dont want your child to be "the one"! Read something on another discussion group about Grab N Go's. An experienced mother said to meet them at the airport if they have to leave while you are there and spend their waiting time with them. It also said to have them meet you at the ticket counter, and as long as everyone has id's they will issue you gate passes to sit with him/her and get through security. Wanted to share in case any of us are in this predicament. Enjoy all of your comments. Some bring tears to my eyes cause I know where you are coming from. This is the first time my son has been away from home too...he is 19.
