I believe we get it the last week they are there- after battleships-21...I'm not positive though.

Robsproudmom- if I'm thinking of the right tour- it focuses largely on the architecture of Chicago and as you mentioned the history. If you love architecture it is a fabulous tour. My brother took his girlfriend out to Chicago for their anniversary as a surprise and took her on that tour- she is a photographer and an architecture junkie- she was in love with it!

Thanks judymg!! I appreciate it! fabnoble: I'm sure everything will work out for your son. Just stay positive and keep believing. He will find a path that he is happy on. As Docangels said our sailor is at GL to be a Damage controlman- he does firefighting, as well as, chemical detail, maintenance, and overall saftey- he is also in charge of teaching other sailors on the ship what do in case of an emergency. If anything happens to that ship he is incharge of making it right again- "first one in, last one out." Even though their still recruits- I like that we call them sailors because I know that they will all make it. They were born for this. I can't wait for the "I'm a sailor call" I'm positive that we'll both cry. Good tears :) Not sure if I'll get it- his Dad or brother may. I'll just be happy he has become what he has always dreamed of being- a sailor! :)

here is something to do I went into shoreline sightseeing.com they have some interesting things to do..When Taste-goers need a break, they can stroll over to Shoreline Sightseeing’s Buckingham Fountain dock for a relaxing and refreshing 30-minute Lake Michigan Cruise featuring fabulous views and a narration on the city's history and landmarks. Shoreline’s Skyline Lake Tours will run from its lakefront dock across from Buckingham Fountain daily during Taste of Chicago, June 25-July 4th.Tours depart hourly from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily during Taste - until 6:00 p.m. on July 3 and until 5:00 p.m. on July 4. Tickets are available at the Shoreline Taste booth (near Congress and Columbus Dr.) or at the Buckingham Fountain dock. Fares for the special Taste Cruises are $14 adults, $13 seniors over 65 and $6 children under 12.

My son wanted air rescue had the depth perception waiver done back before thangsgiving when he left in May they still hadn't cleared the waiver therefore he had to keep the HM position.

fabnoble: that is so unfair for him. But maybe God has other (safer)plans for him, watch and pray, I will too.
Judymg: My son will be in A school (at GL) for Damage Controlman (Firefighter)
Remember, they're not sailors yet, they are recruits untl we get the "I'm a Sailor" call. Can't wait for that!! Navy is tight about their titles......

OK...I'll be chatty for a minute or two All4him. My son is also supposed to stay at GL for A school. What jobs did everyone's sailor sign up for? Mine is in Advanced Electronics and thinks he might eventually like to volunteer for Aircrew. They tried to talk him into the Nuke program but he declined. He's also going to try to get an engineering degree somewhere along the line. That would be so great! OK..I'm done.
tmasters. Hope you feel better in the morning.
Good night, ladies.

tmasters: today was a blue day for me as well. I too am hoping for a restful nights sleep and a happier me tomorrow. I stayed in bed for most of today...All of this talk about grab and go and great lakes being backed up is making me nervous!! I hope I get a letter from him this week to ease my worries. Good night ladies.

I would contact Public Affairs and see if they have more information about Grad N Go and how much time you have to spend, etc. My son is suppose to stay in Chicago for A School but in his letter last week he said it was backed up and he may get to come home for a bit...hmmm..I'm not sure if that is wishful thinking or true. I asked him to find out more in one of my letters. I am not so chatty today...a bit blue. Hopefully a good nights sleep will bring a happier me tomorrow. Thanks again for all the 4th of July and Chicago info. I forwarded to my parents as they are so excited and planning our to do's :)
