I don't know if this helps but my son told me that he had to stand watch during the weekend for one day. But now that his A school might be going to Texas I am lost on how much time I will now have with him. This is so mind boggling..My girlfriends daughter is a Grad and Go and she just informed them she will probably only have 4hrs to spend with her family. I think that is so unfair....Well maybe between all of us we can find more out as it comes..

I just read the fireworks are on the 4th at 9:00 PM. There are a lot of smaller city firework displays that are also nice. It looks like GL is going to have a big one but don't know if the guys will want to stick around anymore than they have to. I didn't see anything special happening at the zoo on that weekend. Everyone's probably gonna be on the lakefront. HMM...Might be a good time to go.Weekend hours are listed as 10AM - 6PM.

Thanks for all the great information on things to do in Chicago. I'd still like to know if there is a possiblity they will have liberty on Friday and/or Saturday as well. I'm a little confused by the Grad N Go thing. If they are not going to A school in GL are they automatically a Grad N Go? Would love to have more than a few hours with my son before he leaves for San Antonio.

Hi ladies; I live in the Chicago area and will tell you that Navy Pier is still a great place to visit and has been updated recently. This is close to everything, if you don't mind some walking. (LIke our sailors aren't used to that :) I think you'd have to take a cab to Lincoln Park Zoo but should be worth it...don't know what events they have for the 4th, but always something going on there. ALSO, Chicago puts on an awesome fireworks show on the lakefront. And there's always the shops on Michigan Ave and State Street....even if you only window shop. Restaurants galore......all prices, all varieties. Just keep in mind that because of the holiday it will be VERY crowded along the lakefront....absolutely packed during the fireworks, but should still be fun, especially if the weather cooperates. The museums are great, but don't think our sailors will want to be cooped up inside all day. If you're going to take the train from GL to downtown, keep in mind that there's usually a different HOLIDAY schedule for trains coming and going so make sure you check the right list. I'm hoping we can just come home for a day. If that works, I'm going to try to get some of his friends together for a visit. I can see Chicago anytime. :) I wrote to my son that he's welcome to bring a recruit or two home if they don't have anywhere to go. Haven't got an answer yet. Have a good day all!

Thank you for the heads up regarding my hotel stay. I have made new reservations at the Ramada so I am looking forward to seeing all at the meet and greet.
