FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO GET STARTED:

Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Another fun place to would be Navy pier. They have a worlds largest farriswheel and tons of little shops and things to do. I was considering going there with my sailor if he wanted to. I have to double check on what condition the Pier is in now becasue my knowledge of it is from 7 yeas ago! haha

Here are 2 sites for some Steak houses I have found that seemed to have really good reviews from others that went to their childrens PIR. Hope this is helpful, Both have a great assortment of foods available

Ok the prarie resturant is no longer there...Sorry but I'll call my old nieghbors to see what they can reccomend. the Hanncock building has a resturant that is called the 95th floor- once again awesome food- a little pricey. If you get window seats it looks right out over the lake and youcan watch the planes come in and out. At night it is really neat. :)

I don't know if this helps Robsproudmom but when I lived in Chicago we use to go to a place called the Praire- it is wild game cuisine- they always have something different and interesting. It is little on the pricey side but the food is always beautiful and over flowing with flavor. I'll have to see if it is still there. It is downtown Chicago in the Hyatt- a few blocks from the theater.
