They're half way through and, hopefully, the worst is over. My son said he feels totally isolated from the outside world. I'm sure that's why they sound depressed. Are you ladies sending anything else with your letters? I sent some stamps and a very small calendar and put the letters in funny cards but don't know what else to brighten his day. Any suggestions for the last couple weeks?

Kyles Mom- Awesome that you heard from your son!!! Don't worry about him being depressed I sure he was just tired. My sailor sounded a little depressed too when I talked to him - but they are exactly where they want to be- you have to believe that. I will pray for him :)

Moms: a glass of wine/cup of tea at Navy Lodge?
Comment by tmasters on June 5, 2010 at 7:55pm
Great Docsangel...glass of wine later sounds great. I've been reminding my son to tell me about Battle Station date as soon as he knows. I did find out they do hold mail for the first two weeks but then after that they should receive mail daily. They can write on Sundays anytime between 7am and 1pm. I know my son got to write a bit more while he was resting from the dentist which would explain why we got so many letters this week. My son couldn't believe how much I am leaning and know from all of you :)

I know I worried about my sailor getting his letter because I write once if not twice a day- all of his friends and some of mine have been writing him as well- so I wondered the same thing at one point :)

my sailors brother is my go to source- if you have any questions just ask and I'll see what I can get answered :) he said that he believes they do. He did when he was in basic...I hope that helps :)

They are supposed to get mail call everyday according to my sailors brother

yea on the website it said that battle stations occur the last week they are at basic. It also said they should know what day it will happen because they get a phone call- a lengthy one according to the site...Have any of the sailors written about that?
Comment by Docsangel on June 5, 2010 at 6:20pm
battle stations 21 is 4-5 days before graduation
