tmasters- do you know what A school your son will be attending? My son will be going for 'Damage Controlman".

Me too. My son stays for A school. I wonder if we will get the whole weekend. I went on to sidestep.com pretty good prices for airline tickets. Do you think it is better to stay close to base and just get a car?

My son will also stay at GL for A school so I need to find out how much time I will have with him after PIR

Hi Ladies, I'm hoping I have it figured out about PIR; on the boot camp group there is a site noted for PIR: http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/upcoming_grads.asp
It is confusing but it looks like our recruits will have PIR on July 1.

Hi again...so I went into the Boot Camp Group and there are some older discussion from a few days ago about the PIR 7/2 date. I'm confused though because none of them are in our same Ship/DIV. I bet some of these experienced mom's can help with any information or how to get a definate answer. Wish I was more help.

Hi judymg Ship 3 Div 233, Welcome!! My son is also 'older' -24, Although I don't know if you've read previous postings, but I live in Florida and my son shipped out of Ohio so his girlfriend got the 'box' and will probably get the 'letter' as well as his first real phone call. Although she calls me I think I am counting more on the moms here with experience for accurate info and strategy on how to get it. Keep in touch and we will all pass on everything we learn.

Hi Judymq - It sounds like that graduation date changed. Was it suppose to be 7/2 and they made it a day earlier? I think that is what it is sounding like. I think there is a PIR info site where you can check dates. I am going to try to find that out. But I haven't received anything about graduation or any dates yet. Feeling a bit anxious now :) I just sent out my first letters and received his box yesterday afternoon. Maybe I will get the formal letter with PIR date this week along with Docsangel.

Hello Moms;
My son is also in this ship and division. Already sent a few letters out and can't wait to get one back...a phone call would be good, too. There seems to be some confusion about the correct PIR date. Has anyone confirmed if it's 7/1 or 7/2? We're from the Chicago area, so changing dates isn't a big deal to us, I can imagine having to change air and hotel plans would be a pain. My son is was one of the older recruits at his MEP center (25) but there were a couple even older. I was surprised at that.
I started a discussion with this same information a couple of days ago. I better look to see if anyone responded and, if so, make sure we all end up on the same page.
