Oh..I feel your sadness :( I know how you feel there have been a couple things I wanted to share with my son and then I thought to myself..oh ya.. he won't be home later. Sorry it took me so long to respond, especially when it is something touching like that. We have had snow and rain for days and it is finally in the mid 70's so I took my daughter outside to play. Congrats to your daughter that's terrific!! :)

I have an older son who is a recruiter in Alabama but it feels the same as when he left. My youngest daughter competed in her first horse show yesterday and took Grand Champion in her class, I reached for my phone to send a picture to my son..........

My son was living on his own but here in CO. He moved home for the past 6 months to spend time with all of us. I have an older son who is 25 out of college, etc. and 3 daughters two in high school and one starting middle school in the fall. They really miss him too. It's been great having him here for the past 6 months but man did I get attached. This is not like having your kids move out :) I haven't heard about PIR yet. The recruiter said about 2 1/2 weeks into it we should know. I worry too...especially hearing about broken bones. The one that really got to me today is the gal who's daughter told her lots of girls here want to go home. It broke my heart. I know the first few weeks will be hard on them but I hope they are feeling good about their decision.. I am a total worrier :) It will be fun to meet you at graduation ;)

My son's recruiter said the PIR date was not determined yet, have you heard anything yet? I checked the PIR site and their group is not yet listed.

I got to see my son off too, his girlfriend had a big send off party for him and I flew in and suprised him. (I suprised a few other people too ie; my ex.....heeheehee!!!) But his girlfriend got the call when he got there as well as the box. She has been really good about relaying news of call though. It is so strange for me, he hasn't lived at home for 5 years but I'm really going through it I think just because I know I can't call him when I want to. And because I know how much this means to him. I cringe every time I read in here of a recruit being sent home for whatever reason.

We are in Colorado so he shipped out from Denver. It was nice because even though he had to stay at the hotel on the 10th, they let us come down and have dinner with him. Then we all went to his final oath on the morning of the 11th and said our goodbyes. He was sweet and called me when they landed in Chicago and then called again from BC (the short 10 sec call). This will be good for us...we can advise or help on planning our trips, etc. :)

Thanks for joining, I think you and I have been this together from the start. Where did your son ship out from. My son shipped out from Cleveland Ohio although I'm in Florida.

I've joined. Got the address today from recruiter and the box arrived about an hour ago. Everyting in it but shoes and socks. Good to see his things and sad because I just miss him so much.
