Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hello Deidresmom. We just got back on Sunday from our son's PIR. I would say that there were 4 times as many males as females. There were 2 mixed divisions.
At our hotel I spoke to a newly PIR'd female sailor. She said that she loved boot camp.
I am sure your daughter will do great.

Debbie,Hi My son is in ship 11 div 296, he said there is 44 males and 44 females in his.

wow thats half, I wonder why there are so many females in his division there are only 6 in my daughters and she bunks with girls from over divisions. I wonder if it has anything to do with their jobs they have chosen?

One of the divisions we saw at PIR also had half males and females. 865 recruits graduated on PIR 8/6/2010. I think that there would have been a lot more graduating too, but my son's division lost 30%.

Wow 30% seems high to me, but i think some people join the Navy for the wrong reasons and only the ones that are truly motivated do well !!! I know my daughter is one of the few that actually was joining to better her life and not to just reek the benefits of serving!

Hello! My name is Dawn L.(Ben's Mom Ship 11 Div 295) Ben is now at Fort Meade, MD. He is at A-school for mass communications.Where is Deidre at now? Ben is doing very well. He started classes this week. He loves being in the Navy and said he is glad that he made this choice instead of going to college. He still wants to go to college later though, so he has a degree.

Hi Dawn, sorry it took so long to reply but Deidre is at NAS in Pensacola Fl. which is an 8 hour drive from my house so we've been visiting her as much as possible! She is doing great there but she hasn't started A school yet she's just doing duty and enjoying some free time! Deidre was suppose to be working on the instrument panels on jets in the belly of a carrier but she requested a job change and she lucked out they had an opening for the same job but on helicopters! Shes very excited about it!!! YAY shes doing much better now she's not so home sick and shes made many friends. I know Ben made a fantastic decision by joining, he is a part of something much bigger than he ever could experience in civilian life thats for sure!! Well keep in touch its nice to keep up on the kids, Debbie

Hi Debbie! Sounds like Deidre is doing well. It must be exciting to be working on helicopters. I'm glad that she is very excited about what she will be doing.I'll have to ask Ben if remembers Deidre from his division. Just yesterday, everyone that is just starting A-school at Fort Meade got their cell phones locked up until they pass inspection. It appears the some of them were abusing their cell phone privileges. He now has to call from a pay phone. They have inspection tomorrow and if he passes he should get his phone back. He just doesn't know if the means that he will be able to phase up and be able to wear civilian clothes and have his computer which are in lock-up right now.Ben is a 5-6 hour drive for us, but we haven't gotten to see him since graduation due to both of us working. I am a floral designer at a flower shop and my husband Dan is an insurance agent.We're pretty lucky though, because my brother is a commander in the Navy and is in Afghanistan right now. Michael will be home sometime in October and he & my sister -in-law live in Annapolis. About 30 minutes from the base.They all will be coming home fro Thanksgiving together. Ben has wanted to be in the Navy since he was a sophomore in high school. Keep in touch. Dawn

Hi Dawn, Its so nice to hear that Ben had a goal for so long and now gets to live it! Deidre is already phased up so she has all her privileges, but she hasn't started a school yet either, shes in a holding pattern right now until there is an opening for her new position, boy is she gonna be disappointed when she starts school and gets to phase up allover again LOL Shes doing fantastic, im so relieved she was so wishy washy after boot. well take care and keep me up on Ben!
