It appears, all is quiet on the homefront. Looks like those letters calmed us mother hens down a bit..LOL! ;)

Finally got a letter from my son. Also sounded like it was written in the first few days of being there. I think I know how they feel about getting mail from us because I felt like a kid at Christmas when my husband texted me at work and told me we had received a letter from our son. I found myself speeding on my way home from work so I could get home faster and open that letter to see what he had to say. So, if what I felt is anything like what getting mail makes him feel like, I will make sure all his friends and family know his address and encourage them to write often.

I sent out a questionnaire! I had a blast designing one and I'm sure he'll get a kick out of it when he fills it out. I also sent a self-posted envelope with it, so I'm hoping to get it back sometime soon. When I spoke with him I asked if he received it and he chuckled and said yes. So I think they like those! He said they got their uniforms with their last names stitched into it. Made me shed tears of joys!

Yippie, I was starting to feel bad that i was so excited when I posted on Saturday.. His letter also stated that they werent in thier barracks yet, so it must have been written the first few days when he got there...
I can't wait to meet all of you..
I dont need a room, we live in Illinois..I am going to start looking at resturants in the area, because I am sure he will want to EAT!!
I read somewhere on here that you should send questionairres..this way it is easier for him to answer, quicker because they dont have lots of time, and you can make him laugh while doing it... I am sending one tomarrow..

Comment by MO Mom (Ship 04 Div 821) 8 minutes ago Delete Comment I got my letter, too!! I was so relieved to get it, but he sounded a little homesick in it. Since this letter was from the very first Sunday, I just pray he is adjusting and feeling a little better, now. He said the same thing about the 10 minute showers, lots of guys ( 100 to be exact), and only 7-12 minutes to eat their meals. He said he definitely believes the " when graduation comes you will be a different person" quote. I think he is wondering what exactly he has got himself into, but I am hoping that fog has lifted and he can get focused again. I am on a quest to lift his spirits and remotivate him with my letters.
