My daughter had an old injury flare up so she is coming home. Its been a pretty straight forward process. She calls every day and sounds stronger each time. She has seen their legal people and they will fly her home . I am very pleased she will come home and go back to finish college. I support her because I love her but I was no fan of this decision to join, although I kept that quiet. Husband, father, brother all in the Navy. I appreciate all who serve our country. For this child of mine I look forward to a different path. I thank all of the parents who have shared here its a good forum for a difficult time. I wish all of your children the best life has to offer, there is so very much more out there to do.

baseballfan, thank you for sharing.  You're so right about so much more to do out there.  I wish her the very best also!

We've talked before.  Thank you for posting.  When did she get separated and also when did she go to legal?  it seems to be a very slow process for my son to even get to legal... dragging their feet at every turn.  When will she be coming home?  I'm trying to determine the average time for all this.

I'm glad she will be home for your support and I'm sure she'll choose a better path for her.

Hi Rose

She called me  on Monday the 21st at work to let me know. She had surgery a year ago and the surgical site was acting up quite a bit , so they told her she would be going home for medical reasons. She saw legal Thursday the 24th. I dont know when she will be home they have not yet told her. I find this part the most dificult. I really want her home as I know you do as well. She tells me a group went home today and several new individuals have arrived. I told her to help support the new people  coming in to this process  and I know that she will. I think its a waiting game at this point . For those of us caught up in this its really quite challenging, She calls each day and that helps us both. We pray a great deal and I will pray for your family as well. Whatever info I get I will pass on to you

Thanks for replying.  It sounds like our kids both got there the same time.  But mine hasn't been able to get to legal yet.  It is frustrating.  At this point, I wish they'd just sign whatever needs to be signed and let him come home to move on with his life.   It is challenging, but it helps to talk to others who understand.

Thanks.

My daughter  was just sent to Ship 5 with  a diagnosis of  asthma, she was told that June 8th she would see Legal.

Our  daughters are in the same place. My daughter is still there waiting for the Navy to send her on home. She has called every day and that helps. I wish you and your daughter the very best. I understand how this feels from our end.

She is on her way home on Thursday. We could not be happier around here and she is happy as well. For those going through this particular situation I wish you Gods speed . It does get resolved it just takes some waiting . Time to shut the door on this episode  thank goodness

Amen...Where is the like button.  "Time to shut the door on this episode".  Still waiting for our son to come home.

Ok so I got a call on Saturday 3 days after my son left that he is coming home in 2-3 weeks because of a cuncussion he had in high school? I'm lost on the whole process and  is there anyway of calling him or do I wait for him to call and where does that leave him with re-enlistment

There is tons of info here.  If he is in ship 5 this probably means he is being medically seperated.  At the top of post there is numbers to call.  They will not be able to give you any info untill your son signs hippa to release information.  We just waited for our son to call each day for info.  It is extremely difficult.  It depends on what code they give him if he is able to renlis.  Your son can appeal before he leaves, this can take weeks.  once he signs the papers it is a done deal. We were told he could re enlist after surgery on his knee and wait period of 6 months. Apply for Navy again, need a medical waiver(very difficult to get) and Navy Dr need to approve medical waiver at BC.  I am sorry for your news.

I feel the same way you do.  My son is awaiting discharge from ship 5 and when we first got the call he was coming home we were upset with him for not trying harder.  We know now that this was not the right time or place for him and he is more determined to finish his schooling.  He has learned a great deal about himself and I am very proud of him for trying and wanting to go into the Navy.  He said he wants to re-enlist in 6 months but we will see what life's path has to offer him. There are many more things that he can do and whatever he chooses we will support him because we know he will be successful.  I am very anxious for him to come home and hope it will be next week.  I feel scared for him in ship 5 and dont want anything bad to happen.
