lol im feelin ya girl! My son was 5'9 150lbs, pure and lean. He worked out every day and fancied the fact that he had every muscle bulging without an ounce of fat on him. He would go to work with me building swimming pools and after work, he would hit the gym, while I took my old butt home to a hot shower! My youngest son is going to be my problem child, he stays one year at his dads and one year at mine and back and forth. Their family owns a business which my 14 yr old owns 17 % of and has no direction. Why should he? he has money in the bank and daddy spoils him rotten. He has no goals, doesnt want to go to college, would rather hang out on his skateboard with his buddies at the mall all day long. I try to run a tight ship but it is hard with a child that is allowed to run wild with no curfew at his dads. It is always a fight for the first month that my son comes back to stay with me.

Dereck said the same, his word were they got beat for 3 hours then went to bed and lo and behold they woke them up and because they couldnt be on the toe line in 10 seconds they got beat for another hour and 45 minutes, then had to do their regular work out. I do think it is a little bit overboard, but these boys knew what they were getting into when they signed up. I have always been strict on my boys, so they are no stranger to having to do pushups, tho the most I ever made them do was 250 pushups and they could do them easily. They stayed in trouble in their preteen years. I dont like someone else making my son do them though. Thats my baby, but in all reality, like you said, it will only make them stronger. And they arent little kids that I have to keep protecting anymore. I so cant wait to see him! Can you believe my son said he has actually gotten fat. He said he has lost his abs, was a 12 pack, but now is only a 6 pack and he is upset they dont make them do situps! He said he has discovered he likes to run and the pt is actually fun

I think they all get a medal for serving in a time of war. They also get bigger sign on bonuses from what I understand. As far as the beatings, they are healthy young men and it doesnt hurt them really. It is just a major workout that they really dont like. If it were an RDC laying their hand on my kid, I would be mad, but honestly making them workout isnt as bad as it could be. This is just a tiny little sand in the hourglass and ten years from now they really wont give a hoot about it.

yep ..got the letter about the three hour beating. Said he hurts all over. said it was 11 days to go and he is so ready to get outta here! also got his collar devices, and his medal of honor for serving in a time of war. said he also got a ribbon but forgot to explain what it was for. he was nice enough to make an imprint of his medal on the letter. has an eagle on it and says dept of defense. about the size of a quarter. I cant be any more excited! Go Navy!

hint on the password, it is two words, space between the words and all caps. some of us had a hard time getting it to take the password, but thats the key
as far as your ribbon, just cut it out of construction paper and write your name in marker on it if you dont have much time.

My flight leaves Dallas at 1:20 on thursday, arrives in Milwaukee @ 3:35 then we will drive into waukegan. So we will all be getting to the hotels around 5:00. 6:00 is the meet and greet, I am so anxious to meet all of you! I too will be taking the shuttle to PIR. Thats too neat that your boys know each other and even got into the same division! My son has kept to himself pretty much, he says he isnt there to make friends, he is there to prepare for a job. Congrats to your son for making sharp shooter!

I am sure he will, as they will have more time of their own and be allowed off base on the weekends. Dereck will be going to Groton Ct for sub school and will end up being there for 42 weeks before he ever gets to go to A school. He signed up for 8 years and almost 2 years of it will be school then 60% of the other 6 years he will be on a sub. I was hoping to have grandbabies by then, but who knows. His girlfriend and him have been together for 5 years, since he was 14 and she was 11. They have lived 4 years of it apart and only gotten to see each other during spring, summer and christmas breaks but they would talk every night. They both agree on getting their careers in line before they marry. She is so young so many things can change, but this navy thing is nothing new to them being apart for lengths of time. I will be flying her with us to go to PIR. Its the least I can do for my son. Her mother and I have been close friends for 11 years, so the kids have grown up together and know each other better than anyone can. They talked it over before he joined and she said nothing would change and after she finishes school they can be together. So the timing works out well since she will be a senior next year. Alot to put on a 16 year old girl, but she wants him just as much as he wants her. As for friends, I hope he makes some friends at BESS at least, so he wont be so homesick.

Hopefully I will receive one on Monday. My son usually writes on Sundays and I receive my letters on thursday, and once on Friday. The last letter I got was on a tuesday. I am sure our boys know each other, but dont realize their parents know each other. My son is a crack up, always making jokes, but he does know how to keep his mouth shut when necessary. But I guess their friendships are somewhat limited to "the workplace" and dont really know each other until outside of the workplace. The only person my son has mentioned in his letters was a guy with the last name that started with Sev. maybe that is your son!
