wow so much information in this letter.. where do I start? Dereck scored highest in his division on his tests. said they are given meds so they dont get erections. said hes worried if it will ever work again. said an inspector tried to mess up his bunk during inspections and he brought it the RDC's attention and they all took him in the office and grilled him on honor courage and commitment then told him to get out of their office but he still got his 5.0. he is eating over 13,000 calories a day but still losing weight. he was only 150 lbs when he left! said pt isnt hard just all of the studying is. said a kid was hurt really bad. an rdc threw him thru the bulkhead. said that rdc has a napoleon complex. but overall boot camp is better than he expected it to be.

Yea....we got a letter today. Short and sweet. He told us that he is in an honor unit (we had already figured that out from this wonderful web site) and that he is having one wisdom tooth cut out....which we also knew from what he had told his girl friend. But that's ok, it is great to hear from him.

Well like they say, no news is good news. Colleen thanks for the insight. That lets my mind rest a little bit. At least I know he can buy a phone card! Guess I'll just keep going on with my daily routine and be delighted when that phone call does come in.

Well that makes it better for them. At least they can get some reassuring words on a daily basis. I dont think any of the divisions have learned to work together yet. Seems alot of people are posting that problem. They will come around though. Its supposed to be getting easier in another week right?

Like I said, this happened at the hotel before boot camp. But they did take his money, his phone cards, all of his stuff. I sent him new phone cards, but in his letters, I also wrote the phone card number and pin numbers for just in case. I sent pictures, but really need to send him some more. My son was supposed to be having his wisdom teeth removed soon too. I am glad to know they are receiving the mail. Are they only getting their mail on Sundays or every day?

Dereck didnt get to call today. I spoke with his girlfriend and his dad and all the other family members and no one has heard a word. Maybe tomorrow- there are alot of guys in the division so maybe they split them up to make calls. I am so anxious to hear from him. Does anyone know if the RDC's are letting them have their letters yet? I understood it that they dont get the letters until the end of the third week..... if thats the case then my son hasnt received the phone cards I sent him. His original phone cards were stolen by another recruit at the hotel before they flew to GL. Maybe I worry too much lol

my son also called his girlfriend....I told him it would be ok. She called me as soon as they hung up. He also is having wisdom teeth taken out sometime soon. But it sounded like everything else was ok.

my younger son just wrote his big brother a letter... he told him to have fun at camp! I laughed so hard. My son asked me why I was laughing and I had to tell him that the camp his brother is at is not like summer camp!
