We got two letters today....my son actually thinks the food is pretty good...they had veal parmesan for dinner one night. He feels things are not too bad, but they do a lot of PT and "beatings" when they mess up

Reading everyone's comments here is very helpful. Thank you everyone for sharing. I also have not heard from my son since getting the form letter. Glad to hear that is pretty normal. Wow..I had no idea they were in an honor division. That is such an honor.

Also, did you guys that are staying at the ramada call the actual hotel to get the prices or did you go thru a ticket site? just wondering which is the besst way to go. I found a flight, hotel and rental car from the 25th thru the 1st for 365.00 per person. I am still waiting to find out how many people are coming with me before I buy, so dont know if i can keep that price. I want to drive up but may get into weather issues...yada yada

Got a letter from my son today, said that this was the only letter he was going to be able to write this week due to the time limit. Said he was up 73 hours before he was allowed to sleep when they first got there. He said he stepped off of the bus and an RDC was yelling at him, called him a few choice words directed at sexual orientation then asked him if he could sing. My son said no. The RDC told him he didnt want him in his division if he couldnt sing and to get in the other line and thats how he ended up in the 915 division. He said he gets to do rifles. He said he gets about 4 hours sleep each night, sometimes he falls asleep in class. He said the division is having a hard time getting things in order together so they are getting "beaten" daily. (have to do PT until they are drenched in sweat) Said the food is great but dont dare eat any sweets or they get beaten for that too. He only got one shot. Lights out at ten but they still have to do ironing and shine their shoes and he has to do two hours of night watch. Said the RDC's are A$$holes but they have trained many divisions that have won awards and medals so he is proud to have a tough one.

Sean'smom, Welcome! We are all excited, anxious to hear from our children. All of us in the same "boat". From what I gather, most of you have made hotel arrangements, but for those that havent, I was told that we will not get the navy rate unless the person with the Navy Identification is there at check in. I dont know if this is true for all hotels tho. I am so excited to go. This graduation means more to my son than his high school graduation. Now... what is considered an acceptable gift for this graduation? I gave him a truck for his high school graduation. I cant afford something like that again...
