I plan on leaving for PIR around the 23rd and driving up. I am used to doing long drives, as it is nothing for me to drive from Florida to west Texas in a day, therefore I will probably allow some extra time for weather delays. Also my 60 year old mother will be coming with me and it has been years since she has travelled, so we may make several stops. She is a trooper though.

I assume since my son has no musical or singing abilities, that he would be either on a drill team or flags. I understand they have a flag for all states. Also I understand they are allowed off base at time to perform in ceremonies or parades.

Colleen Im sorry to hear about your sons mishap. Hopefully it gets worked out. Meanwhile, some things happen for a reason even if we dont know why. It could be a blessing in disguise. I wouldnt be surprised if they listen in on a recruits calls. Maybe the navy was trying to find out if he was really lying or not.

Dereck has only gotten the one call home- the im here, gotta go call. I havent received any letters as of yet, nor another phone call. On his form letter that came it said, "Send everyone my love, dont have much time to write. I havent slept in 50 hours and looks like I wont get to anytime soon. All they do is yell at us. This XXXX really sucks." I know it has gotten better since then, but it is driving me insane not having contact with him. I know I need to get used to it, as this will be the life.

colleen with a long o, Welcome!! How long ago was it that you got to talk with your son? Thats terrible that there was a problem with his job. I was thinking that with it being the start of the third week that we might get to hear from our children soon. I understand they should be getting a phone call this week sometime. I got the form letter, but thats all of the correspondence I have received so far. I am planning our trip out. I will be making the drive from Texas to Great Lakes. We have quite a few people that are wanting to come even if they dont get to attend PIR. They are anxious to just get to see him for the weekend after. My sons name is Dereck. He is 19. What is your sons name and age?

I havent received the form letter yet, now any correspondence from my son, guess I just have to keep being patient. trish31 the division is all types of recruits from what I understand. My sons Recruiter said that anyone in the 900 div got there because of excellent test scores and were chosen to be in it. So there should be a wide range of jobs in that category. I dont believe they will all go to the same school. When you book your air travel, go ahead and book it but buy a refundable ticket so you can change the date if necessary.
