OK, this is an update to a question I started in "general discussion"... hope this is the right place.
My son Justin, is a Nuke, and was originally in 09/014, and was to PIR Dec. 2, and leave for SC on Dec 3. His fiance got a short phone call from him this evening. This is our 2cnd call since he left Oct 5, and first since we heard of his leg “injury” in his letter written Nov 2.
He had a bone scan (done Nov 10) and they confirmed he has a “stress fracture” in his right leg. He must still be on “light duty” and/or in “physical therapy” (I didn’t speak to him), as he again says he will not be able to graduate with his original class.
His address has changed, he is now on ship 04, but I was told his division is “2341”. I have not heard of this kind of division…is it for those with injuries, waiting to resume boot camp with another division when he has been OK’d by the Dr.?
Rebecca said he sounded “positive”, and he thinks he may be able call every other week. He was to have some time off at Christmas, but I guess he will now get whatever schedule his new division has. Anyone with any experience with this please let me know. Thank You All...Mark
This is the right group for your to be in...ship 4 and ship 6 are for the ones who are sick or hurt and have to get better. They are pulled from their own division and put in to a division that all they do is try to get better....yep it sucks! BUT at least the USN is trying to give them a chance to get better instead of just kicking them out.
Not sure about the whole division thing, but the mail will still get to him just put the rest of the info with the divsion you have. Start writting him letters...ask him if he will get time off at the holidays (as I said before I doubt it as he is in a recruitt status and he isn't a Sailor yet).
Regarding the phone calls it is up to your son to call whomever he wants, they don't make him call home to his parents to tell them what is going on.
Hello My Daughter Nichole is a corpsman was originally in 02/950 and now in 04/2341. Her dad and I are wondering if they will have a graduation or just go on to the next adventure. She had a torn tenden and is in phase 3 of her recovery. If you know something will you let us know anything will help. We also haven't heard from her in about 2 weeks and wondering if all is ok. Thank you Joanna
