What Plans do you, your family & your Sailor(s) Have for Memorial Day Weekend?

Hi all ~ It appears that my wonderful Sailor Girl will be cruising the open seas with thousands of her best shipmates on deployment so we'll miss spending this Memorial Day Weekend with her but maybe next year. I have a family members wedding to attend this Saturday. Sunday I'll probably bbq with friends and family and hang out abit on Monday with same. What are you doing to celebrate?

My son Evan is in Japan (Yokasuka) and will not be home. I will be trying to keep myself busy by volunteering at the local Ambulance Corp., driving an ambulance in a local Mem. Day Parade, an annual BBQ at the local Ambulance Corp., a community BBQ, and church. I may go into NYC and see some of the ships that are there for Fleet Week too. But I think that might be too emotional, not sure yet!!! ;-) Happy Memorial Day Everyone!!!
my son is still living in VA, so i won't see him, i miss him so much and pretty soon he will be in afghanistan for 9 months, so we here Chicago aren't planning too much, just a little bbq on saturday.
I know this is a little late but I got to go see my son in New York. He is currently doing his Prototype up there so we get to see him more often then when he was in Goose Creek. Of course New York is much closer so that helps too. He was in a parade with fellow sailors and it was a very small and short parade but it was definitely worth the trip up there. I took pictures so I will be posting them on my page so check them out if you get a chance.
Hi all,

My Memorial Day weekend was exceptionally nice. Lots of family and friends and a great Memorial Day Parade where I cheered sooo loudly the folks around all thought I was crazed. I didn't care the military men and women who served mean the world to me and I view it from a uniquely personal space now as a Navy mom. Glad I have all of you who can relate and understand how I feel.

Cathilee ~ so awesome how you volunteered for the Mem. Day parade. Wow, the Fleet Week idea sounds really cool too! I hope to one day see the NYC Fleet Week sights and parades. I may just get to be around for Norfolk's Fleet Week this fall. Thanks for sharing your weekend with us!

Deborah ~ My thoughts and prayers go out to you for your peace and his safety for his deployment to A. Hope that little bbq was nice. Thank you for sharing!

Kelly ~ Thank you so much for your input and no it is NOT too late! LOL Glad that you were able to visit with your sailor and hope you gave him a huge hug for all of us moms! The parade sounds awesome and I cannot wait to view your photos!
