No problem! I didn't get to talk to my sailor too much today (he hasn't seen his family since January) and I am a night shift nurse in Washington so sometimes commmunication is a little rough :/ so I didn't get to ask him questions yet but he graduated on Monday and flew out that Tuesday (5/16) and won't report to his station till 5/30. I wasn't able to make it to how A school graduation but from what I've been told is it's not very likely bf and you really don't get to see your sailor afterwards because they are getting there orders and getting everything all packed up. He left the same day as his graduation. The navy schedules there initial flight but they don't get the information on it until the day before or two days before graduation I believe( I worked all weekend so recalling exactly what day he told me stuff is a little fuzzy) they can reroute their flight to go home before their final destination but remember the cost of the flight comes out of their pocket so all those fees they pay. To come visit me alone it would have cost my sailor $1200! So I told him to forget it and spend his time at home with his family!

Thank you so much, Ellek73! Really appreciate your willingness to help :) Also, if I may ask, how does it work after graduation from A-school? Do they leave Meridian right away? Do they usually get a "10 Day Leave" to go back home?

No problem navy4khays! I know it was so much harder to find info on a school as opposed to boot camp and all I can tell you is what my sailor experienced and what he has told me. I'm not 100% on the over night stuff (only got to visit him one weekend and it was last minute so no over nights for us) I belive he can put in bids for both nights (one he gets phase 3 which is the ability to leave base and spend the night) class finishes around 1630 (thats 430pm civilian time :P) on friday and he would have o be back by sunday I believe.but I don't know 100% i can ask him tomrrow (he just graduated monday and is on his way back to kansas at the very moment) and tell you for sure! They just started a new ciriculum after his "class " started so I'm not sure if its the same.... but as long as he passes the exams he should get through in the 8 weeks. I think thats what they mean by self paced....and as long as he doesn't get into any trouble either. Anything else I can help answer please let me know!! :) I am so happy to help someone else out I know its so hard not knowing

Thank you Ellek73 for sharing such helpful info! How does overnight liberty work? Do they get to check out on a Friday and return on Sunday? I've also heard that A-school for LS is "self-paced" --- and that it's really up to the sailor, to finish asap or not. Any insight on this? Thank you so much again for your help!

Hey everyone my bf just finished A school for LS. I'm not sure how much help I can be but I can always get answers from him about stuff. I don't know if things are different from place to place. but there are 3 phases they have to pass to get the privilage of leaving the base with liberty. I think it took my sailor about 1-2 weeks to get everything done to reach phase 3.  the base he was on required every sailor to have a liberty buddy when using liberty. they also had to sign out for overnight liberty by wednesday. a liberty buddy had to be a family memeber or wife or another sailor from the base!. My sailor's A school was 8 weeks total and they had 5 exams they had to pass before they were done! Hope it hellps

Hi everyone! My husband is an LS/FTS (Full Time Support) & I was hoping you all can share some info regarding A-school? And how the different phases are in A-school? When will we be able to see him? Thanks so much!

Thank you. I'm hoping at this point my son Will agree to wait until he knows where he will be based! Seems too much paper work, plus they are still in training!
