Well, it sounds like it will be a god job for him. I know his cousin, who is a navy vet and worked the catapult on the Kitty Hawk and the Stennnis, told him he had a golden job.

Hi srm54, Chris also went to A school in Meridian, and also enjoyed himself. There was a lot more freedom than in BC. I know he said there was a mall nearby and they would chip in for a cab a couple of nights a week just to get out, other than that I don't think there's much else to do there. Chris is on an air base in Jacksonville, FL. He's in charge of ordering airplane parts and he really loves his job, he's just now in for 3 years and he just took his E5 test. I think he finished up in Merridian in March. He was delayed when he first got there because of an illness. I know there are a lot of jobs in the LS field and I think being an LS gives you opportunity to change fields easier than others.

If I have calculated right (and I have looked at when people left the previous 2 weeks and their PIR dates) I think his PIR is going to be 11/19/2010. So at least when he goes to Meridian, Miss. he won't have to contend with the heat and humidity. Being from Southern California, that may be a little bit hard to get use to.

Hi, my son just left for boot camp and will go to A school in Meridian, Mississippi for Logistics Specialist. I don't know much about the rating and was hoping I could get more information. His cousin who was in the Navy until 2000 told him that LS is a good rating as he will have plenty of opportunity to learn things that he could carry over into civilian life and time to take college classes. Just wondering what exactly they do.
