Hey Lisa lets send a letter to our boys and see what happens if we write free in the corner. LOL

I remember my dad telling me a long time ago (ex-marine) that whenever they sent any mail, all they had to do was print "free" in the corner where the stamp goes. What happened to those days? Sorry to say, they're long gone.

Mine is not in it for the money. But I am torn on this subject . According to a friend in the military, some people are not even close to making what civies make. Now the gov't is thinking aobut them to paying for dependent health care on their own. I'm thankful for what we have but think maybe they need a little more.

Lynda I agree, Chris was deployed last year and payed off his credit card, money he owed me and his car insurance for a year so he was greatful for the extra $$ and he doesn't complain for what he gets now and neither do I, I even offered for no raise last year as I am happy I have a job and I love the one I have. My husband was laid off last Feb so we are happy for what we have :)

1.4%? I thought my job was bad, the whole chain last yer got no more than 2% and we're not putting our lives on the line like our kids are.

They do deserve more :)

thanks for the housing answers. Does anyone have any thoughts on the presidents proposal to give the military a 1.4 % increase?

When mine was in Meredian he waited longer to class up then it took him to finish the class!! Don't you have to be married to live off base? Or is it that you have to be in the Navy a certain amount of time before you can do that? 50 in chgo tomorrow YAY!!

Welcome Hismom! Chris is also in a store (on an airbase) and he has never had laundry duty either, but re: the $$ for meals he told me that if you live on base, you get $$ taken out of your check (hard to believe) but when he was in Maine he worked 3rd shift and he almost always missed the galley being open so if he filled out a report they gave him some of it back. Now he's in Jax and living off base
