Yes, you can call the YMCA at Camp Pendleton. I don't have the number on hand but you can get it from either the internet or 411.

Put me on the list of names of SO CAL moms. Go to Molly's Adopt a Solider and they can help you with names for Christmas. Congratulations, on your son being home for the holidays.

Is PIR in Illnois like that in November too?

fairie girl, when we went to my sons' PIR on 12/24 it was snowing and we almost didn't make it. I took nothing but warm clothes, bought a new coat just for the snow. I wore so many layers because I thought I would be freezing. However, when we got into the hall, I almost passed out, because I was so hot. You are only in the snow for the short walk to the hall from the parking lot.

Definitely great advice. My husband's PIR was in January(in GL). Definitely bundle up. You will end up waiting in line to get to the actual ceremony and we walked in one building to get our names marked off on the list and had to walk outside across the base to another building. Definitely wear comfortable shoes!! and make sure that when you're sitting on the bleacher that you put all you stuff(cell, camera, etc) in a bag or purse because if they fall under the bleachers it takes forever to flag someone down to actually get them for you! My daughters shoe fell off and under the bleachers and we had to wait for them to call liberty to actually get someone to get it for us. lol.

I have been told that it is colder than you can ever imagine and nothing near anything that we have had here! Bring layers, on top of layers. If there is snow that can be pretty bad as well.
