Hi Kathy...Your PIR is just around the corner! So excited for you! Words just can't explain the emotions! My son was part of the chartered group..so frustrating! Up at 330 am, left for airport at 4 am to see him around 5 am. I only found one mom who knew of the "charter"...so much misinformation and rumor. We just had to take deep breaths and go with the flow of things. We had an issue with not even being on the guest list for PIR the night before and then when we got to PIR to check in, found our son was not even on the division list! It was handled well, but made for a few tense hours! Kathy...some in the GL GNG got their sailors after they checked in across the street and then had them all weekend long...sounds like overnight also from what I heard! Are you planning on staying all weekend whether you see him or not?
BB...so many stories of BC, we'll have to have coffee to visit! I'll send you both my cell! Goodnight!

Thanks so much for your warm welcome! I look forward to being a part of this group and hopefully will be able to be useful to those behind me...
Rorysmom: Congratulations on your son's PIR!!! I've been reading your PIR group's comments (the oreos) and it's really touched me. My son is a grad n go but he's staying at GL so I hope to see him over the weekend. Was your son part of that chartered group? It sounded like a frustrating experience for those folks.

Good morning all and welcome to the new member Kathyjog! Well, we just arrived home from our son's PIR! One of the most amazing, emotional, gut wrenching experiences we have ever had...but so wonderful to spend time (only 7 hours...he was a grad n go) with our sailor! Hope to keep in touch with this group!
Kathyjog---I am in Orange County (Lake Forest)..so not too far!

Hi Socal, just joined your group...my son's PIR is 8/6/10. I know a lot of you are probably much further down the road in your sailor's career but I look forward to reading your postings. I'm in Redondo Beach...anyone else in the South Bay/Beach Cities area? Has anyone else heard about the 2 Navy men just captured in S. Afghanistan? I pray that they are alive and well. I, too, will pray for the wounded soldier. I also worry about the Korean situation....I know worry gets you no where but I can't help it.

I will pray right now for the family and the soldier.

Hello. So my boyfriend is almost done with BC and I don't know very much about "A" school, he's an EN I've been doing some reading but any info you may have would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Ladies :) My sailor is my fiance'. I just got his form letter today (YAY! I totally did the happy dance!). He is in Ship 14 Div 274 and his PIR date is 8/13/10. If there are any others of you out there who have the same PIR date there is a group started on here for that date :) I look forward to connecting with you all and sharing info too :)
p.s. I am from the High Desert :)

Hi Moms...Got my son's form letter yesterday...only took 8 days! So good to see his writing! Grad date is July 23rd so we are on our way. Really enjoyed lunch with everyone last weekend!

Very nice surprise!! You were thought of & we were hoping you were ok :-) Have a blessed weekend with your sons. There were 5 moms, one dad & one girlfriend, all at various/similar stages in their Navy careers. Great time @ Ruta's!
