Got my letter today. Thrilled I don't have to hound the poor mailman anymore. She sounds good and hasn't sucumed to any bugs. I am glad I have sent many letters already because she is hungry for news from home.
Seeing her off was rocky at first. When she left for MEPS on Monday a friend dropped her off at the Recruiting office. She said her goodbyes to us earlier in the day. Funny thing though. Instead of leaving for BC the day after she went down to MEPS, she didn't leave for another 2 days. She ended up calling me upset about the fact she would be in the same clothes for 3 days. So, what's a Mom to do. Actually it was the best choice I ever made. I took clothes down, stayed the night, had dinner with her. Next morning I went to her swearing in ceremony. Took lots of pictures. And we had some time to talk which was wonderful. Thanks for asking.

Hi Ladies been a few days since I have been in this group. Still waiting on word from me daughter. Got the box still waiting for the letter.
Darsete and Ray Ray - My d went in as an E3 so she has seniority. And since they had 20 recruits split into 3 flights they put 3 of the most senior ones in charge of their groups. She had 6 girls plus herself in all. On one of the letters I sent out it showed an older baby duck leading a passle of other ducklings. Thought it was appropiate.

Last text from her said that they were waiting for the buses. Should be taking the hour trip to the RTC soon. I feel like I am watching a film of her adventure.

Hi Ladies, Aubree flew out of San Diego this morning and has landed at Ohare already. She has been texting me updates including that she has kept all her little ducklings from straying. Wouldn't want to start her career by losing a recruit. She said that they have government meal passes for the resturants at the airport and they don't know yet how long they expect to be there before transportation arrives. She said she was able to sleep almost the whole way so that should help with the long hours ahead. She sounds good, upbeat and we will wait for the expected official phone call. She is ready to hand off her brood of chicks. About 20 in all divided into 3 different flights. She had the middle one. Chicks not listening went outside of main airport, so only option was the foodcourt instead of the nicer resturants. I guess she will learn about motherhood too in the Navy. Got to laugh.

Remember the coffee get together was canceled til this next coming weekend. It was a better time for everybody. I'm glad to hear you are feeling much better. That's great there is a group in your area and tell us about the get together later.

There is no need to contact Elle unless you have any concerns/problems with setting it up.

Yes, go ahead and post your announcement or rather if anybody is interested in doing a get together or meet & greet, etc under any of your group sections, so cal moms or ca navy moms. Once you receive enough responses to your post go ahead and set it up under Events section. Everybody can RSVP there so that you have a better count of who may or may not attend.

Ray Ray, I know there are quite a few moms that are in the SD & surrounding areas. It would be quite a distance to come from SD. Why don't you try to arrange an Event in your area?

Yes, there will be at least five of us going unless a few more show.up. But keep an eye over at the Starbuck's get together under Events section. That is where we would be posting messages/updates. Also, we decided not to meet at a restaurant since there is a surcharge for the no-shows. That's why we are meeting at a coffee shop.

Ray Ray, the Starbuck's Event has been changed to the following weekend.

Hi All, won't be able to come to Starbucks on Saturday after all. My brother-in-law will be visiting from Sacramento and I don't think he would want to come. My husband will be out of town so I am the one doing all the entertaining.
